  1. For the records. Car posted in post #1 of this thread. Setup is now: Front: 15x6" Alpina replicas, ET12, Ground Control coilovers inc. shortened struts, TBA camber. Tyres are 195/45r15 Yokohama S-Drive. Perfectly driveable with rolled lips. Would highly recommend further guard mods though Rear: 15x7" Genuine Alpinas, ET12, Ground Control supplied Eibach springs, 1" drop (?), spring pads still in. Lips rolled and have not had rubbing but will advise further if I go lower. 195/45r15 Yokohama S-Drive tyres.
  2. Wow I really like the look! I wonder if a 13x7 , 0 offset would work on my 1600 without flares? I expect under compression there would be rubbing up front. Probably under hard cornering too. My 13x5ish e21 turbines with et18(?) rubbed.
  3. Some 02 nut leant them to me ;-p I put Yokohama S-Drives on them. Really nice tyre so far. Need to catch up soon.
  4. Glad you enjoyed faqers! Dubois - it is Agave, I think repainted once quite some time back but would need to confirm with the owner. Possibly the light colour ground reflecting off the cars duco could explain? Wess - haha they were apples! $2 a bag.
  5. My Flickr account is almost full for the month, but hope you enjoy these few!
  6. Progress has been made! Brake boosters deleted and wow, im sure glad they're gone. New Yokohama S-Drives in 195/45r15 are on also. New oil and filter too and ready for the 2002 cruise tomorrow now! To do in the near future: Remove rear spring pads and re-hang doors
  7. Nice pix jrhone and dubois. Ive been wanting to give HDR a go for a while so hopefully this will give me something to work for.
  8. Bump for a good buy. All the research is done here (including the intercooler) Really not much left to do to have a turbo 02!
  9. coilover / airbag low or you just got a lowering spring? You can try the same tyre I said above but you wont get a good stretch out of it unless you've got a 15x8. For you, i'd just say be happy with a 195/45 or 195/50 and chase the stretch dream when you have the right set of wheels to achieve it. Edit/ Actually in this case, i'll jump on Tommy's side and say stay well clear of the 195/45.
  10. With the GC's on the front and the current stance at the rear, it would tuck under the guards rather than hitting and I think he'll need all the space he can get up the front. 195/45 is barely even a stretch on these. Hardly mexican low rider... edit/ pictured car has 15x8 rears btw.
  11. Understand completely. I watch the vwvortex boards too so know what you've got there. I've always wanted to see somone put them on their 02, and I think you'll have a great ride there with the front on the GC's so its levelled out a bit. Anyway, once you get around to it the 195/45's will probably make the car in the end in terms of looks and driveability. IMHO of course (I like dumped mk1's with wide RS's haha)
  12. Great stuff! Im liking 02ers getting into the quality wheels here! Just a thought, why not run a 195/45 on the rear - It would tuck under much nicer. Edit / Same goes for the front actually.
  13. Kurt's done a lot of research into his turbo setup, fifty. A bone stock tii 9.5:1 engine is a different animal to a forged everything Kurt creation.
  14. You could make a pretty cool dead pedal?
  15. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4859429 Not mine, blah blah blah Look great on an 02, be prepared for the unexpected (guard rolling, etc)
  16. Yep! '69 with a 318. Im going to crack into the bodywork over easter. Dry storage since '83 when it was brought off the road so there is very little rust. The WB has been one of my all time faves. I love the styling of the thing.
  17. Sourced the fuel system Motorsport Connections surge tank Pierburg lifter Bosch 044 Speedflow fitout New wheels - 16" RG (Alpina replica) New project (uh oh)
  18. If you have turbo flares with a 15x7 wheel - et12 (like 15" Alpinas) fill the flares nicely. Pretty sure i've seen people run et0 Sportmaxx's too, so plenty of wiggle room.
