  1. Just to update for future peeps. It was the rear mounting blocks had completely turned to goo. I ordered the full refresh kit and will update to later version of entire shifter with ie kit. New guibo while I’m in there and man…the shift shaft seal did not want to come out. Fyi also for future people….you cannot fit more than one seal in there on an 74tii box…I tried! Only room for one. 2. Anyone upgrade to a short shifter and want to sell their late model stick shift preferably with non spinning guts. Thanks!
  3. I have ordered a full kit from IE and will replace all the bushings and mounts while i’m in there there and update to later version of stick. Got a new guibo as well in case that all comes apart when I get in there.
  4. This can’t be right!? See video. All bolts appear very tight…but all this movement? Is this just the guts gone from every rubber bushing in there including the ones that mount the whole contraption up there? IMG_4697.mov
  5. Exhaust was perfect and newly mounted in the last year. I’ll get it up in the air tomorrow and poke around!
  6. Shifter itself is all stock and did not make sounds with the weak original mount..now it does. No funny noises down there other than a contact sound on shifts now.
  7. I bought a super cheap scope that works with an app on my phone on Amazon and looked all up and down my rockers before sealing them up! Have used it a few times since. I would do that!
  8. Can someone point me to what could be banging on shifts on floor or tunnel after adding this beefier mount. Underneath it when still I don’t see anything. All new mounts just done and evidently the bigger tranny mount has caused something else to interfere? Anyone been here before? Thanks!!
  9. Heard a lot of gurgling at the tank so added some fuel, let the system pressurize well and started up like normal! Fixed?? 😂 IMG_4641.mov
  10. These things seem to also check out. The strangest thing to me is will start and briefly run on cold start valve meaning either somethig is causing a lean mixture and the extra fuel is enough to get past it…or no fuel at all and the cold start adds that needed component. Also weird that it ran immediately when I first got everything back together and died when warm…now nothing.
  11. The belt is only a couple of years old but I will check that too! It did run all the way up to warm up yesterday and now…only starts and dies.
  12. Hmm…maybe but wouldn’t I not have gas up at the top of the motor at the cold start valve? That is pumping out like normal. Hard line goes to soft line to filter and that’s all happy still. Also…it started and ran initially after the repair… But I will go look down there! Thank you.
  13. Gurus I need help! 74tii. Replaced motor/tranny mounts and oil pan gasket using a truss from above. Got everything back together well…now no start. More details…seems like it is for sure an air leak causing it to run lean. When I started it initially, started fast, seemed a little rougher than normal and as soon as it warmed up…died. Will run briefly on the cold start injector which I have on a switch. Replaced today the rigged up pipe going to bottom of intake on back of Wur which needed to happen with new bmw hose all tightened up thinking maybe that finally let go. Will only run briefly on cold start injector. I rocked the engine a bunch getting the mounts to line up. Linkages are new and were safely disconnected as well as distributor cap and rotor. Seals on metal runners seem ok. Ran great before this project. What else! Is there a big gasket on the intake that could have gotten tweaked rocking the motor back and forth?
  14. Gotta say… That sucked. Had to disconnect the sway and use a pry bar to get in and out. And then trying to be careful getting the seal not to smear silicon everywhere…and then holding it up there and trying to get a screw to thread…not a fan! Hopefully it will not leak! I did not overtighten so hopefully! New mounts while I was in there too. For others…even with the rig to lift the motor…good luck if you have a thicker sway!
  15. Dropping pan for a new gasket. It’s an aftermarket sway…pretty sure that’s the issue. It’s way up there, both mounts are completely floating. I had to take the sway down on one side for the alternator to come out…here we go again!
  16. Stuck! Tii with the motor on a truss as far up as can go with the intake just about hitting to notch area…and cannot get the oil pan to clear the front sway? Read all the posts and thought I was all prepared! Am I going to have to undo the sway as well? Is there a trick with getting this thing out as far as twisting it or something. So far..no luck for me!
  17. I have sold that car…but it was not pretty. Sucks that they don’t fit after all the discussion!
  18. I never could get my “new design” Uro seals to let the door suck in enough without very violent slamming. I ended up chopping it all up with a razor blade to make it “better”…
  19. I used acetone and many rags and got all of the exact same treatment off of my 76. I then polished it all back up and had a few really bad pieces rechromed by a local shop. It all generally matched well and was freshened up.
  20. Got the same thing for a Tii timer box. Charleton.
  21. While trying to clean up excess wiring from previous owners obsession with toggle switches I must have unhooked however he had the cold start valve hooked up. Moved a toggle to the left side of wheel and wired it myself and car starts within a second or two of hitting the starter. If I get an original timer box I’ll use it, but for now….starting and running like a sewing machine!
