  1. Are you sure that its a US market thing? My eurospec 02/1971 ti had side panels, with the wooden boards, the back panel between the arches and two smaller pieces along the dome/Floorplan joint with some foam cushioning. I've wondered about the white protective strip that slips on the flange where the panels meet, to protect you from cutting yourself...but I've seen pictures of them on others, so I thought they were correct as well...all of mine had some light Colorado overspray, so I took them to be original to the car. Andrew
  2. My diff was silent to my ears until I went to poly, its not loud but you hear a buzz...still contemplating ripping all the poly out except for the sway bar bushes and front subframe bushing. I still have oem rubber on engine and transmission mounts...so can't comment on full poly. Mine is a fast road spec 02, would be better with rubber. Andrew
  3. I've been contemplating joining as well, but haven't gotten my hands around the 2000+km drive just to get there. But the setting and the company would probably compensate for the pain of getting there...
  4. The downpipe on an 02 costs (relatively) next to nothing, so welding the bung is really the best way to go. They usually come with a plug, so if you don't want to make a permanent installation you can cap it after you've done your tuning...just run wires temporarily. The clip in the exhaust is ok to tune idle gor emissions, not really for road testing. I have been adding the bung just in case on all my new downpipes prior to install...
  5. The polish company is called valcas garage, https://www.valcasgarage.com/ the price is very attractive but I have not bought their panels. They have 2002 panels, E9 etc. Not too many E12 panels. The E30 guy's say fit is good, but not sure they are that picky. A
  6. I haven't looked for E12 oem panels, there is a company that produces repro panels in Poland, for 1960s-1980's BMWs but they are "standard" aftermarket, Floorplan without the plug holes etc... can obviously be bought and only fragments used. Noone seems to have inner sills, only the outer. Not real keen on making panels for an E12...these guys in Holland seem to have a lot of interesting pieces, but just ran across them with Google...https://www.kapteijnclassicparts.nl/en_GB/c-2245590-2/41-bodywork/ A.
  7. I am in Hamburg this week, but I won't have time to check it out. It's outside the city center if I recall. My son will be in Hamburg in two weeks, if there is real interest he could take a look. He knows E30s, not E12s.... A.
  8. Hi Philip, One just showed up in Hamburg, Germany. Seems to be missing a few pieces with few pictures of the m535 details and has rust. According to the text, its the real deal but it raises a few question marks...like looking at a 1600ti or 2002ti without the telltale details. I found this offer at 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲.𝗱𝗲: BMW BMW E12 M535I 3.5 AB FABRIK First Registration: 01/1981 Mileage: 66.500 km Fuel: Petrol Power: 160 kW (218 Hp) Price: €20,500 https://link.mobile.de/GneENWmrzQ3q7Dpn9
  9. Looks to me like it has most of the right attributes, but will require a complete restoration... I found this offer at 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲.𝗱𝗲: BMW 2002 Ti - Original Ti, Matching #'s - Projekt First Registration: 10/1969 Mileage: 117.834 km Fuel: Petrol Power: 88 kW (120 Hp) Price: €16,950 https://link.mobile.de/FbMZs8E3craVTB6M8 Just goes to show the ti is not as rare as we think and cars rust in Italy as well...Not clear what will be salvageable, the interior not...non runner. Andrew
  10. Is there really not a single soul left from that 2002 recycling outfit that operated in NJ in the 1980's...? Yes, the youngest then would be close to retirement today...
  11. Wow, that is special....that rear bumper is not a diving board, its a park bench. Maybe something for the surf casters on Long Island, though might be tricky to get to the waterfront. Missing the holders for the fishing rods... Andrew
  12. You should post in the general section, the 1502 is a europe specific model and different to the models discussed in this sub-forum.
  13. Hi, I assume you have a normal 2002 that someone updated to the dual carb setup, so little guidance as its not a stock setup. If you really are experiencing a rev limiter in operation (not something else), it would have to come from the ignition system. Check the rotor in the distributor, that the correct rotor is installed. There is a rotor with a built-in rev limiter, would be nonsense even if it fit in the 123 distributor. The programmable 123 has a software activated rev limiter, which can be set to whatever RPM required. Check these two points. Andrew
  14. Philip, a number have been for sale on mobile.de over the last two years, of varying quality. I was looking as well, for reasons similar to yours. None for sale right now, but something always appears at some point. Regards, Andrew
  15. I would agree for those who actually have an interest in cars. Most of the zealots I have met know nothing about IC cars, have read up on electric cars a bit. To them it is 4 wheels and transport, "hyper eco" and "hyper rational" as Transport...even better if someone provides tax or purchase incentives to sweeten the deal.
  16. My gripe is more around not finding contractor's or handyman types that want to do a smaller project...either build a new house or just too small to bother. Trying to get someone to replace the gutters and flashing on my father's roof in New York is a drama...only interested in doing the whole roof.... Andrew
  17. Well, its probably demographics as well...how many young guys are entering the trade and which cars are moving from dealer to indie service....? I think it's actually an issue all around the 1st world...where we throw most of our stuff away within 7 years. Andrew
  18. I like the flat horn, but I already have one and only one ti to put it on...the spokes are surprisingly good on yours, I think mine had stopwatches mounted with clips that scratched the spokes... so yours would be a nice "patinated" example by just re-wrapping it. Andrew
  19. And low mileage bastardized e30 m3...good work.
  20. I have an E30 M3 with a hartge 240bhp kit...all but the staggered setup is still on it. I don't like the visual effect and hate the handling since the narrow fronts compromise the whole setup...I'm not a friend of the stance thread, go is more important than show in my opinion... and square is faster in this case.
  21. Could have made some new pictures if he had actually done something constructive...like even re-register it. Based on his ebay record he is neither a porsche, bmw, Datsun guy or any thing other than a speculator. Would need a lot of love. A few worse looking ti's have been in mobile.de lately, all needing lots of work. Andrew
  22. I would skip it, unless I drove the car a lot. It's just another thing to go wrong and strictly speaking not needed. If the floats are set correctly, the carbs won't flood. I don't drive mine often, the mechanical pump took forever to fill dcoe carbs and a regulator would only add more fuel capacity to fill on the way to the carbs...so making it only harder to start and require more cranking and more battery capacity... If you drive rarely and insist on sticking with the fuel pump, make sure you have a battery "jogger" set up to keep the battery at 100%. You will need it. Andrew
  23. I too made a list of all the cars I have owned, it took a while and had to think hard about the sequence not to miss some. I was too young to be an original owner of a 2002, but actually I have never bought a new car for myself, only for my wife.... For me the car world ended around 1991, where "transport" came into play.
  24. I was a diehard stick fan, but...Well, at least for my Land Rovers I have to say an automatic is a better choice...especially off road. The modern autoboxes are really good, but like most modern cars they are a bit boring or sterile...ok, lame. So it's great transport, on a hot day stuck in a jam I'm happy in the air conditioned auto box wonder, but that's not driving anyway... Andrew
