  1. Thanks for the details regarding BMW archives as I like to research the history of my cars. Here is a photo of my door VIN with production date.
  2. Alright, since I did not think that my little purchase would get any attention. Here is a nice dirty shot of the engine. David
  3. Thank you. It needs some massaging to get back on the road. I will share additional photos once I get it cleaned up better. Lots of CA dust and dirt in every nook and cranny.
  4. My 76 2002 arrived from CA today. Just cleaned it up after its long journey to Seattle. I purchased it for its beautiful trunk and floors. Pretty sure it is original paint, but additional inspection will determine. It is an automatic and I will consider swapping in a manual at a later date. I just want to get it running again and put some miles on it. The car was stored for many years. I know Sahara / automatic is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like the car. I am sure I will have many questions for the group.
  5. Wanted to buy -- Good hood and right front fender for a 74 2002. Would prefer in the PNW - WA or OR.
  6. 76 Non catalyst sticker on inside of driver door along with VIN sticker.
  7. Is there any significance to the chalk mark on the spare in this original 76? I don't believe the spare was ever taken out and used.
  8. Well, here is a poor photo of my soon to be mine original paint CA 5/76 build automatic 2002. When in my possession, I will clean up and get a good photo of the said sticker.
  9. What a wealth of knowledge on this board. This one - 2392721 --was built on 5/76
  10. All the other VINs were present on the car. I just was used to seeing the larger plate under the hood on the passenger side. From the first response, it sounds like a few 76's came without the plate. Thank you for the expertise. Regarding the front seat covers, it seems like they are older replacements as they are missing the center perforations and the lip on the transition from the center to the bolsters. Photo attached.
  11. Do all 76's have a BMW vin plate riveted on the body on the right front? Do all of the original front seat covers have perforations in the center panels? I am looking at an original paint 76 and there are all of the other VINs noted on the car with a VIN sticker on the inside of the driver door which indicates the build date -- but no riveted plate in front. Also the front seat covers look original but do not have the perforations. Thank you in advance. David
  12. My old 74 TII. Gone but not forgotten.
  13. Sent message regarding Blaupunkt on bottom right.
  14. Yes. Are they rare or just not used very often? Thanks for the photo.
  15. Has anyone ever seen headlight covers on an early roundie car?
  16. E-mail sent regarding seats. Want to purchase. David
  17. Thank you all for the quick answers to my dilemma. I actually just purchased my 74TII and noticed the cap key was missing. I will try having a locksmith make a key. I may also take up a kind forum member on a spare key. I am an early Porsche geek that has always lusted over the 2002. Thank you, David
  18. Problem is, the cap is on the car. I have not attempted to pick the lock yet. Thank you, David
  19. I lost the key to my factory locking gas cap for my 1974 TII. Now what? Is the lock easy to re-key? Thank you, David
