  1. I have an EFI set up but the gas pedal is only pulling about 2/3 of the potential throttle. If I step on the pedal to the floor, I’m not able to pull the throttle the whole way. what are the EFI guys doing to get full leverage out of the pedal to the throttle body? attached is a video. https://youtube.com/shorts/EQzVpQ06rsg?feature=share
  2. Oh yes, I have many personal problems... and one of them is that the car was hit twice...that I know of. Once in the rear left corner which crunched the rear corner of the car, and buckled the rear left fender. Second time was T boned on the driver's side wheel/fender. However the rubbing is on the passenger side front wheel. I bought the car from a guy on this forum who does backyard restorations of these cars and I seem to remember him saying the car was hit once too. So the car might not be perfectly square and bodywork has been done to it. But it's a survivor. It drives straight and there's no irregular tire wear or anything like that. Just the weight/rub issue. I'm thinking I get an alignment, and have the body shop pull the fenders out a wee bit if possible before paint. I bring all this up because after the two accidents I was in, the paint is cracking 10 years later. The bodyshop who did the work is out of business and it needs to be re-prepped, properly, and paints. I hope to have all these 'issues' sorted once and forever. Fingers crossed.
  3. Here are some photos I snapped. My wife is in the car and weighs all of 110lbs and there’s no wheel rub when she’s with me. It’s a 170+ guy in the car that usually causes the rubbing. Nobody mentioned replacing the springs…? They are ST springs. I’m wondering if stock would be better to raise the ride height? Oh, and I haven’t had an alignment in ages. …I want to get this solved before it goes into paint in a few months.
  4. They are 15x6 with a 25 offset. Upper strut bearings are probably old... at least 15 years.
  5. Oh, I forgot... I already added fixed camber plates.
  6. I have a 72 2002 with 195/50 R15 tires on a set of 15" Panasports. I can't remember the offset but I'm not about to buy a new set of rims. If there are two adult men in the car, the right front wheel will rub the fender a bit. I've rolled the inner fender lips and there's just a wee bit of rub still. I've been dealing with this for about 10 years or more. I have Suspension Techniques springs with Bilstein HD's. On the rear springs it looks like I have 3 dot pads on the top and 1 dots on the bottom but I might be wrong. On the front, I see evidence of thin spring pads. I'm wondering if I try 175/55 R15 tires instead? Would they fit? My tires are pretty old and due to be replaced. Or do I go with a different set of springs? HR or Ireland stage 1? Something a bit stiffer and perhaps doesn't lower as much as my ST springs? I'd love some suggestions / advice. I hope to get my car painted soon and want this solved before it goes into the booth. TIA -Josh

  8. I think I figured it out and it's a STUPID mistake I overlooked. My blue wire coming from the Alternator D+ terminal was hooked up to the wrong prong on the 3 wire harness according to this link: Installing a 318i 80 Amp Alternator WWW.ZEEBUCK.COM I put the blue wire in the opposite terminal of the 3 prong harness, unhooked my jumper wire at the external voltage regulator (which was previously hooked up to a voltage regulator) and everything is functioning as normal. I think. (I'm not sure what the DF prong is for on the 3 wire harness but I think when I had the second voltage regulator hooked up, or jumped the two terminals at voltage regulator harness, it was able to complete the charging circuit in a round-a-bout way). I get 13.8 Volts when car idling with no accessories on (other than the ECU, clock). When I turn on the lights, high beams and fan on full speed, I'm at 13.5 V. My battery is roughly 2 years old. I *think* I'm good to go???
  9. I have that blue wire hooked up to the alternator. With nothing hooked up to the old regulator, I'm not getting enough volts. When I hook up the jumper wire between the old regulator's harness terminals, I'm fine. Check out the photos.
  10. Shouldn't the regulator inside the alternator be enough? Why would I need two voltage regulators? One internal (build into the alternator) and one external? I'm simply bypassing one of them and I'm still under 14V charging.
  11. I have one of those Ebay 85 amp 320i alternators in my '72 2002. The alternator has an internal voltage regulator in it. I wired it up as per the instructions (The thick red wire goes back on the 320i alternator, on the "B+" post. Stock 3 prong harness and connect it to the "D+" terminal on the alternator. And Ground wire. ) I was noticing low voltage without the stock voltage regulator hooked up (around 10-11 Volts). So I kept the stock voltage regulator hooked up all these years. I was getting around 13V when running. Yesterday I had a thought because of my BMW motorcycle wiring trouble shooting and 70's BMW motorcycles have the same regulator as the 2002s. I remembered you can bypass the regulator by jumping two of the 3 terminals on the 3 prong voltage regulator harness. So I created a 3 inch male to male wire and jumped the two terminals next to one another on that harness. The two top terminals when looking the harness = -- _ -- The voltage jumped up to 13.6 / 13. 7. Any harm in leaving it like this? I figured that more volts are better (to a certain extent). *** All this digging/playing around is because I have a dead battery after 2 weeks of not driving the car for the past 5-6 years. I can't find any source of a parasitic draw. So I have a quick disconnect I have on the battery to solve this when not driving the car consistently. The car is fuel injected with a 318 manifold and newer early 90's ECU.
  12. Selling a box of E30 Wheel caps. $20 takes the whole box. 7 Caps total. Some caps have a small nick or blemish but otherwise good. Shipping extra.
  13. Not a boomer but thanks for playing. I'm just a person who's documented nearly a thousand concerts and by the looks of it, since before you were born. But I don't want to hurt your 'feelings' so I'll stop now. ?
  14. Lay off all that dope. It's clearly a gateway drug effecting your ears. But the car is the shizzle.
  15. What on earth did I just watch? My ear holes hurt.
  16. My cover is starting to shred after several years of CA sun so I stumbled upon this thread on my hunt. Bavarian Autosport is out of business. sadly. Cover Craft no longer offers custom covers for the 2002's (they have different styles since I last ordered from them 5 years ago. The Silverguard Plus is no longer an option). California car covers don't have pockets for the mirrors, and range from $175-$450. The Noah model is $236 +tax and shipping. I'm curious if anybody found another option out there with mirror pockets. I need UV, dust and Rain protection.
  17. Thanks Ken. I let him know... since he is in your hood. I think the nose clip is the biggest piece he needs.
  18. Friend of a friend wrecked his 2002. Needs body parts. Know anybody? Here is the list I have 1972 front radiator clip Right front fender All 3 grills Hood maybe Car is in Long Beach, CA
  19. Check out the photos of the mirror. It is a solid mirror, what you see is what you get. It has a very slight crease on the back of it. Otherwise, great for a daily driver. Not going to help you win a best of show award. Also, FREE - A Medium sized 02 again shirt. Just found this with a stash of parts, never worn, still in the bag (although it has a few slight dust marks on it). You pay shipping. email me at jjwithers at g mail dot c om
  20. Hey there.  A while back you sold me some seatbelts to my 2002.

I'm building a BMW motorcycle with a sidecar and the sidecar has a seatbelt. It is old and kinda crusty.  Can you make a custom seatbelt for me?  If so, how much?

Attached are a few photos of what was on the sidecar originally.

Thanks for the reply.  I actually found something locally at a hot rod shop.  Cheers!  I'm glad you are still making belts!  -josh

  21. Rob was amazing to deal with. He even sent me stuff for free sometimes. He was definitely one of the 'good guys' in the 2002 community. I was sad to hear he closed shop, and now this. ouch. Regarding Jim at 2002ad though... my buddy dropped a car there to get a new interior and never really checked on it, and they never called him. About 9 months go by, he checks, and nothing was done to it (he had a premature kid, and lots of family drama so the car wasn't a priority). He finally goes to check in on it after his life settled, and pay for it, and 2002AD changed hands, and his car was gone. It was lein sold (illegally because my buddy was never contacted about it) in OR and sent to the midwest somewhere. Sounds like that was one of the cars Jim took with him... Not cool.
  22. Here is my test with my helper during the day. Given the improvement, i can see my night time results being a significant improvement. https://youtu.be/fCT9N-U9xOQ
