  1. Actually I would keep silent but when I see the seller is dropping the '02 for a Mustang II (aka Dearborn horsemeat) someone must rise and say : BASTA!
  2. Peel the *bama sticker off the bumper, it'll straighten out...
  3. NM/NA but looks very nice indeed http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/1704266447.html
  4. Forget 'Bring a Trailer", bring a shovel. If, and I say If, the dash is worth $200 bucks that's about it. This hasn't been on a road in Hawaii since McGarret was a patrolman... mahalo!

  6. Naw, those thin little things hardly have any effect. They seem to be there to do 2 things IMO - keep the hood from tincanning at speed (sort of absorbing vibration) and to insulate a bit to prevent condensation forming and dripping on the engine. I used to use some of that knobby anti-bedsore foam which was thicker and had far more surface area and that worked but was just too damn ugly.

  8. Timing cover I have. Do you mean the aluminum front covers or the plastic "BMW" one for the pump belt, because I have all of them. nychart (at) hotmail dot com
  9. They are really nice. Would the f & r door panels be included? What color are you going for? I have 2 OEM brand new black door cards (never installed) and a really nice set of front seats in redone in black leather with velour seat and back panels as well as regular black seats. All this is planned to go into the '72 tii resto. Before you get too interested - just so you know, I am in 10509, NY. Good luck on those. nychart (at) hotmail.com
  10. From a '72 I think. No rust or but not entirely straight either. No dents per se but you can see from the pix with some elbow grease could be serviceable. In storage 20+ years. Thinking $100 for the pair + shipping from 10509
  11. BMW PART NR 41 14 5 403 140 In black primer as it came from the factory 20+ years ago. In perfect condition. Max sells for $267 + shipping - asking $200 + shipping from 10509 nychart (at) hotmail dot com
  12. Left & right stamped "III e1 17043" Both are original anti-glare 'blue' tint, have been in storage 20+ years. No gasket or mounting bar, but do have set screws and two little vent/condensation drip holes in the bottom. Arms are nice and firm. Glass is clear, silvering intact, no scratches on the lenses. Usual light scratches on the finish, most of which came out nicely where I could reach using rouge on my buffing wheel. Divers side has two little pits, but the pair look actually very nice and would use them but I'm going original trap mirrors for the '72 so they're for sale $75 the pair + shipping from 10509 nychart (at) hotmail dot com
  13. Bien hecho Pepito! Me gusta el fibre de carbon. The idle solenoid should be made into a 'how to' thread. Muy bonito!

    Oopsies!

Sad day indeed when the lack of an electronic gizmo is enough to doom an entire run of vehicles from a proud automaker like Toyota. (and not for one moment do I believe any crap about the gas pedals....) Breaking News Alert The New York Times Tue, April 13, 2010 -- 6:39 PM ET ----- Toyota to Temporarily Stop Selling Lexus GX460 After Safety Warning Toyota says it will temporarily stop selling the Lexus GX460 after Consumer Reports said the SUV carried an unusually high risk of a rollover accident during certain types of turns. In the latest blow to Toyota's reputation, the Japanese automaker says it will suspend sales of the SUV while it conducts its own testing. Consumer Reports says that in handling tests, the seven-seat SUV slid until it was nearly sideways before the electronic stability system regained control. The magazine says this could lead to a rollover accident in real-world driving. It gave the GX460 a rare "Don't Buy: Safety Risk" label until the problem is fixed. Toyota has sold about 5,000 GX460s in the three months since it went on sale. It is not covered by Toyota's faulty gas-pedal recalls.
  15. So I see from 'Cars' you think you may have a sunroof problem. 1. The remnants of the seals you see around the sunroof are to keep debris and maybe large volumes of water out but they are not watertight anyhow. Fix = Order new ones from Blunt. They're not expensive. 2. Find the four drain hoses 2 in front and 2 in the rear and blow them out with air. If they're not blocked leave them the hell alone and go drive the car. 3. Inop sunroof : The s/r operates by means of an endless (archimedes) screw cable which passes across the gear above the handle in the front and then runs to two nylon push tabs that pull it open and push it closed. Does the crank spin with no resistance? Then the gear drive is missing which would be odd since the bolt that hooks up the handle through the plastic shield is connected to the gear . This means you should be able to slide it open, very gently so as not to hurt the mechanism. You should use a clear silicone lubricant spray from the top with a straw and saturate the two slides that run left and right. Does it grind or make a popping sound? Then the cable is worn and needs to be replaced. See above and release the gear from the handle and wiggle open. Dont even think of messing with this unless you've read the s/r info here: http://www.my2002tii.com/spring_2005/sunroof.htm
  16. I have one and might well want that '73. Email me at nychart (at) hotmail dot com I'm located in Putnam County - where upstate would you be?
  17. Where in the NE are you? Is that NE as in Nebraska or North East as in New England? In addition to the suspension stuff suggest replacing all fluids, engine, trans and diff. Change fuel, oil and air filters. Look at the oil when it comes out of each hole and compare it with what you see going in. You'll get the picture. New coolant is cheap so flush and fill the system. Summer's coming, and '02's need all the cooling capacity they can get. The 4 speed and the diff are trouble-free unless they dont have oil and if you dont know when last they were changed just change them. Make sure your fluids and filter are as per BMW spec - check the board here for recommendations like Redline, Blue-whatever, etc. I stick to Mobil-1 and thats good enough. Almost any brand name is OK so long as you change it annually. Check the tires and the brakes carefully. No matter how fast it goes you need to stop so this is super important. Sounds tell you a lot so listen carefully. If you hear thumps, groans, whines, etc the car is telling you something.
  18. These are different grilles (and no center) from the set posted earlier. Drivers side I'd say is 'good' and the pass side has a spot of corrosion in the inside lower corn and that bend in the top as well as white spots on the slats. Sell as a set $50 OBO + shipping from 10509 via USPS nychart (at) hotmail dot com
  19. 4/13 - Hey if no one buys this set I'm going to install it on the good '72 tii zero-rust nose I removed from #2762570 and sell it together for $1,000 ( nose in primer ready to install) - any takers? Not perfect but certainly presentable. I've not tried to touch up the blems but aside from a rub mark on the center grille I think with a nice touch they will be fine. The right side missing 'tear duct' clear lens I have and will include - it's just not on. $150 OBO + shipping from 10509 Selling as a set only - nychart (at) hotmail dot com
