  1. LOL, i definitely agree Mike, MUST have been an oversight! FYI, head is cleaned up, machined, and back together, will likely go on the car this weekend. Hope your car is coming along. Cheers, Martin
  2. Was that the episode with the old guy who was the car collector and had his collection of cars and other stuff in the plant? If so, there's what looks to be a Turkis 2000CS in there and a Pagoda benz. I DVR'd that episode and kept it so i can watch it when i need to have a good cry.
  3. Kevin, I have it on good authority that there is 1/4 inch weather strip that can be purchased at Home Depot that does the job perfectly. I havent gone out in search of it yet, but will do soon.
  4. Its kind of a dark gray with a hint of green, similar to the suspension components.
  5. Has anyone cleaned up their gray air cleaner in the past? Any good suggestions on a colour match for painting it? Thanks for any input! Martin
  6. Hello fellow NKers, I just posted this same message on the 02 forum as i wanted to reach the broadest audience i could, but thought i should post it here as well. Im on the hunt for the rubber seal that sits inside the air cleaner lid for my 69 2000. Its the same on all single barrel carb cars - NK or 02. Its NLA from BMW, p/n 13 71 1 250 111, anyone have one they're willing to part with, or have an idea on a replacement? the one in my air cleaner is crumbling. Thanks! Martin

  8. Welcome to the madness! post some pics of the car for the rest of us when you have a chance. As far as parts go, there are alot still available from BMW and from aftermarket suppliers as there are cross reference parts between some models. Just depends on what parts you need. AS far as restorign the wood, there was a thread in the 2002 section about restoring wood shift knobs, and some of the contributors were furniture restorers, so I'd find that thread and contact those people. Good luck with it! Martin
  9. Very neat story, good luck with the project. The Northwest Motors link was near and dear to my heart as i worked at Northwest for about 5 years, and still know the original owners quite well. As far as your colour combo, I dont think tan wasa available at the time, only tobacco (possibly). To have a tan interior, you'd have to go to a later square tail light car interior, or spend a serious chunk of $$ having the interior custom recreated by an upholstery shop. I agree with Jim, would love to see an ongoing blog on this car. Good luck with it! Martin
  10. I use State Farm, and pay about $250 for 6 mos antique car insurance, and about $10 for 6 mos storage insurance.
  11. Ive seen this car for sale a few times, im thinking they just cant find anyone that wants it. Im thinking you could write your own deal on it. Not mine, no affiliation etc etc.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280537915469
  12. Al, Can you email me pictures of the good turn signals? Thanks, Martin
  13. Mike, They're not installed yet, so im happy to measure them for you, but i dont know that they're compatable. Did you try Carl Nelson at La Jolla Independent? He possibly might have a line on some.
  14. Nick, Moose is the nick name the car came with. It seems so appropriate it's stuck. Cheers, Martin
  15. Well folks its been a while since i updated work on the Moose - my 1969 2000A sedan. She's currently on stands at the "Bucktown Speedshop" - aka my buddy Jeff's garage. Rear Midas shocks have been replaced by a set of NOS Koni's from Reverand Al. Two of the four wheels are blasted and painted, but the Krylon Matte Aluminum was not the correct colour, so they're going to get another coat of Dull Aluminum as soon as i can get my hands on some. Front struts have been rebuilt, and are now reassembled, and a non cracked head has been sourced, (Thanks Mike!!!) last but not least, front lower control arms and strut rod bushings have been replaced. Ive attached some pics for any of you that have interest.
  16. Well I got the Krylon Matte Aluminum on two of the rims yesterday...extremely disappointed. Its waaaay to "chromy" looks like i'm going to have to pop for the Wurth wheel silver and paint the faces and the lips of the rims again. I know, I know...you get what you pay for.....
  17. Beautiful! Congratulations, what a find. Cheers, Martin
  18. Wurth Wheel Silver is the "Correctest" but at $25/can, its a little expensive. The krylon dull aluminum(and clearcoat) are 2.95/can at Walmart. Ive blasted two of my rims and primed them, im hoping to get them painted and cleared next week.
