I agree with dirving above - establish a relationship with the dealer parts guys. They have to work within whichever matrix their dealership uses, bit have some latitude. My dealer has been able to beat every online price for major hard parts like power steering rack (E30M3) and radiator (also M3), plus, no shipping, no worries about damaged parts, and you're keeping a brick and mortar store working. For a lot of parts, folks like Blunt and Ireland are the best and most knowledgeable, but for some things, it's worth talking to your local dealer's parts counter.

    Cool, yeah. Thanks David

  2. Is there such a thing anymore for parts discount at the dealers for OEM parts, if you are a BMWCCA member?

I need to buy a lot of stuff for golfie's restoration, and can't wait around for wanted ad responses. Otherwise I'll drive down to Pomona and take my pick

Bolts of fabric are 1.2 meters wide. (46") Hope this helps!

    Paul

OK so does the width/"bolt of fabric" goes in relation to the pattern as the yellow arrow in the below pic?

Then, the length you order per meter goes along the pattern in the orientation of the red arrow (i.e. the length orientation is like a seat bottom from front to rear/rear to front)?

The wheels were in a Craigslist ad from months ago,  I passed on the wheels, I'm trying to no longer be a wheel whore.

Sorry brah I just now noticed the original posting date.

I have accepted who i am, a totally slutty wheel whore. In fact, there's a wheel gang bang going on in my garage right now, also in the rumpus room and the laundry room. Wheels and tires all over the place in different positions - some got rubber but a lot of 'em are barebackin' it - ?

I see them frequently on eBay. The original colors of the vinyl pouch varied, probably randomly, as they were likely sewed from vinyl scraps. Original pouches often (generally?) have rust spots or other stains. Someone makes and sells new pouches, that are very close to the originals — I can’t recall who that is, however.

    Best regards,

    Steve

I believe it's Coupe King who's remanufactured the tools kit pouches. My original rusty one came with some laces sewn into it though, to close it up instead of the velcro pieces attached to the one @adawil2002 referenced above.

    Harry,

They’re not special 2002ti hubcaps. They’re simply hubcaps and they were standard equipment on all 1600-2’s in 1966 through 1968. You had to order the trim ring (a.k.a., “wheel embellisher”) as an extra cost option. I believe the very earliest 2002’s might have also employed this two-part approach consisting of hubcap and trim ring, but then, in late 1968 or early 1969 (?), BMW switched to the one-piece full wheel cover.

    The car you’ve shown is a 1966 or 1967 1600-2.

    Regards,

    Steve

  8. No rusty sheet metal please:

    Early trunk lid wanted

    Passenger door wanted

    Lower rear windscreen section wanted

Good condition stock front driver's seat with the black hinges (will consider both sides if unable to separate a pair)

Greater Bay Area only, not interested in shipping from afar

    Thx.

  9.

So I found four FPS bottle cap wheels.
one has been painted (a test restoration)and the other three of not restored.

any suggestions on a fair offer?

What would be your plans for them? Run them as is on your car as is, flip them, or restore them and run them or flip them? Keep in mind how much it would cost to strip, paint or powder coat (yourself or outsource), buy new center caps and roundels and correct lug nuts for alloy wheels

Taking the switch apart sucks. I used a sharp utility knife and did it clip by clip. Moving the piece immediately after I did a clip. I was thinking it might be easier to drill a hole (at the pin's location) so you can bend the pin in without having to dismantle it.

Also the spring is symmetrical ('74 2002tii), not sure about that short the one member mentioned.

I found the hardest part was bending the pin enough, but not too much. Took me a few tries.

I took a look at that chart and believe there are some errors--there are a number of colors listed (Resedagrun, Korall, Phonix, Madeira, Sierra, and [I think] Topasbraun), that are definitely E21 colors--they may have been offered on 1502s in Europe, but not on US 2002s.  In addition Maizegelb was a cabriolet only color, AFAIK.

I would also question some of the "rare" or "common" comments.  Nevada is a fairly common color on roundies, simply because it was one of the few colors offered originally on US spec 2002s.  And Fjord is a pretty common color, especially on squarelights.  I believe there are newer and more accurate color charts around.

    IMHO

    mike

Yes, these were some of the 1502/E21 colors. It was condorgelb which was a cabrio-only color (analogous to Yukon Yellow, only available on the VW Beetle convertibles from 1964-1970), and I don't know whether or not maisgelb is the same as condor, as is stated here on the colors database of the FAQ...

When someone asks for "2002 colors" I assume that includes all variations of the 2002, before and after.

Like I said, I don't know who made this list, it's been around for a while, and suggested a human created it based on experience. It contains many different types of errors (years, spelling, etc.). I shared it as a starter for the OP.

If you do know of newer and more accurate color charts, including rarity, please share!

  12. North American car exported out of the country and re-imported to the US? If you have an AMCO bumper bar on the rear I'll be first in line for that one if you decide to sell! Strange your belt and waist trim has been deleted but the side marker lamps/reflectors have been retained, and that there is a flag mirror on the passenger side of a LHD car. What was the original color? Schwarz (black) was very rare on 02s from the factory, particularly the Roundies.

  13.

Is there a table for this?  After much searching, I gave up and posted a tread here.  Let me know, thank you!

Short answer = negative. BMW Classic has most if not all of the build records, though. Perhaps they have calculated this internally, you could email them and ask, for what it's worth. That's the only way to really find out.

There is a color table that exists that notes their rarity or lack thereof, but I don't know who created it and what information was used besides personal experience to decide whether or not a color was "common" or "rare":  https://www.02restoration.com/restoration-tips/bmw-2002-specifications/original-bmw-2002-paint-colors/

  14.

So, whose to say the W&N (or any) radiators aren't recored and repainted units with older tops & bottoms?

If they were, I believe they would still have the BMW part # and manufacture date with a raised stamping on the rear-facing side of the upper tank. Wonder who actually manufactures these in Germany and if they are using original OEM tooling.
