  1. what is the correct wiper blade length for a '73?

my old ones are 15", i ordered some from pelican parts (size wasn't listed, figured they would send the correct ones) and when i opened the box they're 16". looking online at various places the size varies greatly from 13" for early '02 up to 17"??? these places are full of crap as the 16" BARELY fits even after trimming off 1/2" rubber...

time to give pelican some feedback...

  2. my new reman AL89X has a small black box mounted to the middle of the back of the alternator. it says "2.2uF" and "100Volt", and has a wire going to the B+ post. my old one doesn't have this. what is it? should i keep it on there?

also, the other post (B+ B+) on the other side has a new nut and washer on it , but my old one has a rubber cover on the post. kind of confused now if i should wire it up the same exact way as my old one even though there are these differences.

    thanks

  3. thanks gwb72tii, that clears it up for me.

my warning indicator doesn't seem to change in brightness at all when i increase or decrease the RPM's, so i wonder if that means the diodes are shot. is the voltage regulator located on the inside of the front fender next to the battery? if so, it looks like mine's been replaced before with one of brazilian origin.

  4. 1973 standard '02, red charging light is glowing faintly, had the battery tested it's about 90% charged @ around 12.5V.

bought a DMM (yellow INNOVA 3300 from Kragen for $10) but am confused as to which setting to put it at to test alternator output - do i set the knob to DCV to measure volts, right?

not sure which numerical setting to put it at, 200m, 2, 20, 200, or 500?

then there are 3 plugs at the bottom, 2 red and one black, not sure which red jack to use - "DC 10A" or "V ohms mA -> BAT."

after i figure out these settings, i can follow the FAQ charging system by myself.

    any help greatly appreciated.

  5. can anyone recommend a glass shop in SF to replace the windshield/seal/chrome trim on my '73? cost isn't an issue as i've filed an insurance claim. thought about going to the dealer, but not sure about that...just want the highest quality parts and someone who knows older cars like these. preferrably in the city, but maybe berkeley area or northern peninsula.

    cheers,

  6. i have a '73 standard 2002, trying to get some parts for it. i see different sizes for the 02 and i dont know which is correct? BELT = 9.5 x 975, or 8.75 x 10?

what temp thermostat should i get, i live in a temperate climate, San Francisco? 71C OK?

Also the engine tends to get near the H when i'm sitting in traffic. goes back down when i'm on the move, how can i check what the problem is, radiator, water pump, thermostat?

    Thanks

  7. My car just started exhibiting these symptoms. I was thinking of ordering new parts including the exhaust hanger donuts as well which are broken and missing on my car. For the exhaust hanger bushings at the trans, I see at 2002AD that they list an early style (2 req'd) and a new style (4 req'd). Would my car ('73) take the early style?

    Thanks!

  8. Wondering if anyone knows of a source of a good quality, good fitting, carpet set in the Black/White speckled pattern. I see that most places have black, grey, charcoal, but not the salt n peps.

This place has what looks to be the correct material, and there is a 14 piece kit available, as well as molded ('74-'76??) but it states it's for the "1975-1979" 2002, and there are no pictures so I don't know if it will fit.

Anyone have experience with this company?

    Cheers
