  1. So, I'm feeling a bit creative, and was wondering, what is the outer diameter of a CS speedo? Could it be possible to mount it in a 02 dash with some modifications? I wonder how that would turn out... Could look kind of cool having the old Silver Dollar Style gauge with a 240km/h top speed... Opinions anyone?
  2. Hey Mike, Nope, that wasn't mine, I have a 69 ti (the one on the photo below). Thanks for the info on the mirrors though, I'll get back to you right away. Take care, Bruce
  3. Hey I'm interested in the mirrors, i'll send you an e-mail for the pics. Cheers, Bruce
  4. So were the 38cm wheels only fitted in the E9 coupes or were they available also for 02's?
  5. I'm trying to go with originality trying to keep it as stock looking as possible but using the optionals from that time (eg: the 300° original sport camshaft, and other extras). So I'm trying to find out which of the wheels would be the correct one to go with. From the catalogue I know that the 35 and 40cm wheels were marked as factory optionals, but where the 38 ones also offered and installed as factory optionals? Bruce
  6. Hey everyone, I'm planning on getting a Petri Sport Steering wheel for my 2002 and had some questions. I know the common sizes are 35cm and 40cm as shown on the parts catalogue, but what about the 38cm diameter ones that appear once and then... also the leather covered ones? Any info is much appreciated, also some pictures would be great. Cheers, Bruce
  7. Im looking for a pair of matching Bosch or Hella headlight set (or maybe just the lenses) in fair to good condition (no craks on the glass) and a 2002ti airbox. Please let me know. Cheers, Bruce
  8. Hahahaha!!! Got to give it to you, that was a great joke! I think we already have our hands-full with our current president to start dealing with another mental case... (PS: the price I just gave you was after the 5% reduction last week... it used to be even higher...)
  9. Want expensive? Here in Uruguay the price is 1.15 USD per LITER Giving a total of 4.35 USD per Gallon... (this is for normal 97 octane unleaded)
  10. Hey Mike, I see you've done you're homework, you're right about the bmw data, there were no squaries assambled here. And the number on the cars too. I'm sorry I didn't hear when you were coming I would had arranged to meet you (though the car is not yet completely driveable) it's always good to have a good old chat with fellow 02 owner... Also because im alternating between the car and university everything takes 3 times longer than it should... I'm hoping to do some catching up now on summer to try and get it back to the streets though with a temporary substitute engine since im rebuilding the original one... About the gauges you're right, I was originally planing on going for that ones, the same Alpina installed but somehow to me they looked a bit too modern in contrast to the rest of the interior... I'm now hesitant on what to do, these opel gauges I must say look very good but I guess that with something as important as engine health and safty at risk maybe I should sacrifice looks over functionality... Maybe I could go for these gauges and replace the rings for chrome ones, thus making them look a bit more vintage. While at it I should try and get a 10bar oil pressure gauge, shouldn't I?, since I've heard that the oil pressure is really high on cold start ups. Here is a pic of some gauges I found which look to be ok... Tell me what you think... Cheers!
  11. Hey jerry, This is the thing, I live in Montevideo, Uruguay and the 2002 VIN# are different here since they came as CKD kits, my VIN is 1775430 and here the cars were ordered differently, my ti is the only ti here in Uruguay, at the time of purchase when presented the list of optionals apart from the normal stuff (color, interior, and a rare only in uruguay available Alpina upgrade pack) was the option of adding all of the special parts that make a Ti, that was how it got everything (boxed rear trailing arms, solex phh, the interior, etc) it also has the "complete" (you could just order some of the optionals) Alpina package which inclouded the 5 speed close ratio gearbox, close ratio steering box, and 13x6 steel rims with the alpina logo on the center cap... The car was originally ordered and purchased by an employee of the german embassy here. Now back to what you said, I also like the short console the thing is that the radio is stereo and its because the 2 speakers that it has the long console (installed when purchased) that is why it doesent have the speaker grill on the front. About mounting the gauges on the dash I don't want to modify the dash since it is a 3 piece dash and its in perfect condition, that is why the center console was the first choice to go... Tell me about your cars! what are you planning on doing?
  12. My car came with the long console, and yes it will have the rubber boot, all original... the picture i posted was as an example so that you could see the interior, i will add some switches for the foglights and a electric cut out switch but they'll be hidden. The VW temp gauge you're right it is kind of redundant, The little warning lights is also a good idea, I'll continue to think up ideas on what to put there... Thank you for taking the time on giving me your opinion I really apreciate it! Lets see what we can come up with... Cheers mate! Anyone else have any ideas or know of a vintage gauge that would look ok? PS: this is the opel temp gauge...
  13. So, here is the thing: I have a 1969 BMW 2002 with some Alpina extras, I have started to slowly rebuild the car, and im in the "gather as many parts as you can" part of the resto in order to have everything at my disposal so to install everything at once. The inteiror of the car is the early one with the chrome moldings on the dash and the silver dollar gauges so I'm trying to keep it as original looking and vintage as possible (I dig that look) therefor I've been collecting vintage parts, such as the vdo gauges which match the ones on the dash and also the clock on the dash (remember its a ti). (Originally I was going to go for the vintage vdo cockpit look but to me those gauges look too modern contrasted to the all chromed interior) The thing is that in that particular model gauges the only two I could get where the oil pressure and amp (they came off a Opel GT) what do you guys think, or know of, that would look good between those gauges? (I've thought about the temp gauge of the opel to use it as oil temp but it has no scale, only color coded). I made a little quick sketch with the parts that will be going into the interior so that you can get an idea of what I have in mind... so check it out and let me know... All thoughts welcomed...
  14. I really dig that rat-rod looking 02! Cheers mate!
  15. Thanks John for the quick come back! Really helpful, my german is sort of basic (im slowly learning) so thanx for the translation. Take care, Bruce
  16. I was looking for some vdo gauges and came across this one, I don't know what exactly it is that it does but would like to find out, i think it would look pretty cool in a 02... (looks kind of like a Hi temp warning light...) Anyway if anyone has a clue of how it works and how you hook it up let me know... Cheers guys! 17. Hey, im interested in the mirror, just let me know how much you want for it, unless you already posted it up on ebay... Anyway let me know Cheers, Bruce
  18. Hey, im really interested in some pics, would sure help out to get an idea of the modifications done to make it fit. Thanks!
  19. Thank you soo much for the quick comeback, really, great pictures too, I just wanted to be sure how the interior looked like since mine has been changed a bit, since the chrome on the gauge pannel started chipping off it was painted silver and things like that, those little details that make perfection. If anyone has a scan of the brochure for the 2002ti I would love to see it so please post it, I'm trying to get as much info as possible but there really isn't much info on this specific model, like pictures, etc. Please post as many pics as possible so that to have like a mini photo database on this model, I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks again, Cheers! Bruce
  20. Hey everyone, im redoing the whole interior on my ti and I need to get as many photos of the original interior as possible so to get it right, please post as many as you can and as detailed as possible, of the whole dash, gauges, wheel, seats, clock, center console, everything you can. Thanks for the help. Cheers, Bruce
  21. Yup, same location, right next to the gauge pod...
  22. Just purchased it out of fleabay, what do you guys think, will it look ok? Item link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290256397782 Cheers mates!
  23. Hey guys!, im from Montevideo, Uruguay, could be me you're talking about... havent posted in a while, university has been killing me, but anyway I always come to the faq at least once a day whenever I have a little break so to get my little daily dose of 02, but since I havent yet continued with the car (no time at all, currently part-stocking) haven't had much to talk about. Im sorry to tell you but its almost impossible to see 02's there in BsAs, but if you cross the pond (Rio Uruguay) the thing is totally different. There the most comon cars to see are the Ford Falcon (There are tons of them), Renault Torino (The coupé version with the Tornado engine came with a streight 6 and 3.6L engine with trip-WEBERS 45DCOE... quite interesting setup...) also worth seeing, check out every car on the street, you'll most likely see cars you have never seen, the best sold car here is the VW Gol, guaranteed you'll end up getting tired of seeing them around(I have one Great little pocket rocket). Anyway just wanted to let you guys know im still alive, well at least sort of (to give you an idea today I have been studying since 8am... its now 10pm and I've just right now finished for today...). Hope you guys have a great time there, If there is anything I can help you out with, please just let me know. Take care, Bruce
  24. The movie "Multiplicity" with Michael Keaton and Andie MacDowell the one he clones himself over and over again and then one of his clones clones himself... kinda funny... He drives a Granatrot/Malaga 2002 (can't remember right now) through the whole movie... Just remembered thought I'd share Cheers guys! Bruce
