  1. Learning new things here today! But, also leading to new questions as well! Like… @uai, who made the Tisa transmission, and are there any other cars out there that used some of the internals. The Colotti transmission for the BMWs appears somewhat similar; I understand the confusion of others who believed it was the Tisa transmission, as did I. @BarrettN, has it been confirmed which transmission it is that you have?
  2. I highly suspect that Colotti’s current offerings listed on that page are for building a Getrag 235 with those internals. It would not be to anyone’s advantage to offer expensively developed kits like that for the original 1800TI/SA Colotti 5-speed, there just aren’t enough of them in existence to make it worth while. @BarrettNThe Colotti T.151 pictured is a straight cut racing gear set; not for any sort of street use, even if it were for a Tisa gearbox. Their T.672 appears to be a “normal” helical cut gear set also for a Getrag 235. @markmacThat trans in the Alpina advertisement photo is a TI/SA 5-speed, I believe made by Colotti.
  3. I’m looking for factory fog light wiring diagrams, early, Model-71, or late model, any and all. In this reply an old friend of the FAQ shared a link to the 2002tii.org website, but that link is broken, and the corresponding pdf is not to be found in the website. In this reply old friend Curt Ingraham mentioned that he had a copy of a ‘74 fog light wiring diagram. Perhaps someone still active here received a copy of that diagram from Curt. Thank you all in advance for digging around for info, Tom
  4. @Mike SelfIs about six or seven months behind my dad @tisabmw, who is on here from time to time. Mike beat him to buying a new ‘02 by a few years though. My dad says that if he only knew that BMW was having a fire sale of 1600GTs when he was stationed in Germany though… He and Mom would’ve bought the Tii.
  5. @Schon '02A tech session at Patrick Ottis’ shop sounds awesome! I’ll be at an open house/tech session at Cameron Wayland’s Porsche shop in Santa Rosa with the Breakfast Club Rally folks.
  6. The parts books only show 1600ti’s being badged below the trim. I have also only ever seen photos of them this way.
  7. @Son of MartyYou count in my book. Now, would my sister count as she was there when my parents bought their Tii? ?
  8. @Mike Self, @Conserv, @02Les, @OriginalOwner How many original owner ‘02s do you know of?
  9. A VERY happy birthday to my parent’s 2002tii! It was born on this day 50 years ago. I’ll be taking it on a one gas tank drive this weekend to celebrate. We olan on having a much bigger celebration Saturday February 5th 2022 as it will be 50 years to the day, even the day of the week, that my parents and sister went to Weatherford BMW in Berkeley California while car shopping, saw this Tii on the showroom floor, and purchased it.
  10. Why yes, BMW did paint the door stops originally.
  11. Dreikugelwirbelwannenbrennraum The “three-ball swirl furnace combustion chamber” of the E12 and M30 cylinder head.
  12. Aus Freude am Fahren, mit Freunden. For the joy of driving, with friends.
  13. In all my years, life, of living with, road tripping, autocrossing, tracking, working on, building and owning these cars, I have never wanted to take up vital trunk space with a battery, and when I do relocate them, I prefer to put them under the back seat… Lower center of gravity, weight more towards the center of the car, and best of all, still able to pack ALL the things in the trunk, including race tires for a customer’s ’68 911 vintage race car, or the vintage aluminum cooler from my parents. Heck, I even loaded up over seven four speed transmissions in one of my 1600s trunks to take to a friend in the Los Angeles area from the San Francisco Bay Area. I am also of the opinion that there is no need to add to the rear structure of an ‘02 that isn’t raced, and the market is already saturated with rear battery/shock tower braces. Now that said, a well developed kit to install batteries under the back seat would be rather inspired and cool. I would buy one for sure! P.S. These two photos were both taken at Laguna Seca at the Monterey Historics, 47 years apart, same car, same owners. I wasn’t to be born for three months when the first photo was taken.
