Upgraded Door Brakes Group Buy

Colin

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am doing yet another group buy for upgraded door brakes.

Here is some quick info about them:

They are a Mercedes part and very well made. They include a "half way" stop point and then of course, the full open stop as well as some slight resistance through the entire range of travel. They work FAR better than the BMW ones and are very robust. Included with the kit is a plastic shroud for the brake to keep water out (very nice), detailed installation instructions (they are very easy to install), a custom fit bushing for the mount, and a properly sized bolt to replace the pin with the appropriate washers. This is everything you need. Operation with this kit is perfectly smooth and quiet and the brakes should outlast just about everything else on the car. They're strong enough to hold the door open even on a pretty steep hill but they don't make the door hard to open. I've upgraded the hardware over time to stainless steel and aluminum where possible so these are very sturdy and long lasting. They're now on tons of FAQers cars all over the globe.

There are a ton of people on the FAQ who are using these successfully. These cost 1/3 the price of the new BMW ones and actually offer more "features."

The price is $100 + shipping for a set (both doors).

Email colin@sfrecording.com to reserve at set.

Very interested. I bought a (different) set on Ebay a few months ago for about the same money, and they are useless. They don't hold the door open.

Is there a picture available showing those?

Thanks

Dieter

yup, have had mine in for months, and if you have door speaker holes the install takes all of 10 min. nice product. Bummer when I got mine the rubber seal was not part of the deal.

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
