Thanks for that information. I'm at a stage now where I may be able to get that done without slowing things down. That's a detail I hope to correct.

I'm looking for a steering wheel now, and the one you have there is really nice. That was a great find. I'm looking on eBay now and the Nardi wheel is the one that's catching my eye right now.

Thanks,

Okay Al, I will...thanks.

Tomorrow I will be checking the parts bin to see what belts the PO had in the car to see if they're usable...if not, I'll send you the Volvo cores that we spoke about in another topic.

Hey Jim,

The restoration looks fantastic. One thing, if you haven't done it yet and you're not too far down the line, delete the air intake snorkel from the core support. Tii's don't have this, only the regular 02's. Here's a link from the "Stella" restoration to see what he did.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing how your car progresses.

Mike

Mike...your observation worked out great! We have deleted the air intake snorkle so the front end should look correct.

Thanks so much for your timely suggestion.

I sent the dash off for recovering before Thanksgiving...then realized I needed to also send the glove box...thanks to Steve at Blunt for the heads up.

I've decided to also send the pad for the lower portion on the bottom of the steering column...along with the entire console so everything will match up.

I'm close to deciding to delete the dealer installed radio that came with the car and just use my iPhone with the Bluetooth ear buds when I'm traveling.

Just in case I have a change of heart later, I have a set of kick panels that Eurotrash sells that will accomodate speakers being installed. Esty is making a carpet kit which will include covers for these kick panels along with a matching trunk mat. A photo of the carpet being used is shown below.

Jim,

Sorry to hear about the runners. They were in fine condition and the K-fish worked 100% as it should.TEP has metal runners in black about $200 which will solve the intake issue, sorry at any rate.

Can't wait to see Patina up and running ,she was a great car for the last 3years till a Volvo taught me Sweedish Steel trumps 40 year old German steel..................sheeeeet.

Jonathan...

Not a problem at all. The runners could have been cracked during disassembly...anyway we have a nice metal runner setup now and it's going to be just fine.

Thanks,

At the very ends of the runners, they are split and held on with the clamps.

Best of luck..........

Took some pictures yesterday, and the progress continues.

We've put a couple of coats of epoxy primer on the exterior, strengthened and repaired the hood, put POR 15 inside the doors, fenders and all the little nooks and crannies that are hidden from view.

Reassembly of the engine has begun and all the engine parts have been cleaned and inspected...then repaired, restored, or replaced.

The tranny rebuild is finished, and all of the parts for the 5 speed conversion are here.

  • 2 weeks later...

Attached are updated photos of restoration. A lot of progress is being made, but sometimes hard to see in photos as car is in process of additional smoothing in preparation for painting.

Inka 022 paint application will be done in an up to date professional paint booth located a few miles from this shop.

The photos are a bit hazy due to the high level of dust and spray.
