Whistling Bomb!

I am having an issue with noise. At speeds over about 40 mph I am getting a whistling noise from the top of my "A" pillars. I can put my hand over the area and significantly reduce the noise. Anybody have this problem before? Got a fix? Thanks.

Cracks like that make even the worst of days turn out good

Check your aluminum trim on the hood to make sure it's tight against right and left sides where it meets the cowl. It is usually the culprit.

I kept thinking it was something with the sunroof, but I know that is not it.

I have the same issue, listened to it for more than 500 miles last weekend! It gets loud over 65 mph. The good thing is people around me know I'm there

Make sure your rain gutter trim is on tight. Especially the bottom front.

Mine does it too. I consider it part of the "charm" of driving an ancient car.

Plus, I really like the shrieking sound going through underpasses at 80mph.

PS The others are right about the trim - I remember covering up parts of the trim with that blue painters tape until I found the culprit - the part the was covered up and made the whistle disappear was the offending trim piece.

The trim on the front of the hood of my '71 whistled when the car was new. Using the painters tape per the previous post is a good idea to really narrow down the offending whistler.
