Serious Exhaust Question.

I don't honestly think you're going to be able to match that tone with an m10. The exhaust in the sound clip is installed on a Subaru STi. The Subaru motors have a very distinct sound not to mention a turbo.

Subaru's use a flat four boxer engine, like Porsche. I love the way they sound, too. But this is the sound i'd love to hear from my 02.

Yes that sounds great but that car has got a M12/7 in it I believe and like the Suburu it is not an '02 sound that we here in the real world can aspire to...... :-b....

Now, the Herbert Reiter 2002ti Historic Rally car ( http://www.herbert-reiter.de.vu/ ) here from Pedro's ( http://bmw1602.lostbrazilian.com ) site is the best clip of a Weber DCOE equipped '02 I have ever heard bar none!

I've been contemplating what to do with my exhaust.

I want it to sound like this....exactly....how do I get there.

TIA

If you lived in a town (country) FULL of Subarus and the idiots that drive them you would get sick of that sound. I would never get tired of hearing vintage screamers on the other hand!

Flat four, flat six, inline 6, inline four, V8 at 90º or 180º, all have different sound characteristics dictated by the detonation sequence.

The Subaru also has a Turbo that muffles the exhaust sound.

If you like throaty sound, then you may want to experiment with Magnaflow/Borla mufflers. They are of the straight-thru design with stainless steel wool to absorb high pitched notes. Oval mufflers will reduce noise more than round ones.
