engine and drivetrain Mini Cooper engine in a 2002

I don't know if this is possible but I've heard talk of swapping a new mini cooper engine into a 2002, would this work?

Is the new mini RWD? I thought they were going to have a getrag 6 speed AWD mini. Imagine a 210hp AWD 2002!!!

The new Mini is strictly FWD I believe...

Yup, FWD. As was the original. There would have to be some very major changes in engine mounting, steering, and much more to get a Mini engine in there. And I think by doing so you would lose the best qualities of both cars. Just my two cents! I love them both....

Its basically a neon drivetrain that was made for the mini

Was. This has changed with the new 2007 MINI. And although the engine was based on the Chrysler Neon engine, the transmission was totally different.

THe new one's all aluminum, and quite a bit lighter....

A friend of mine is a big fan of the late 1980s Olds HO QuadFour. In stock form it produces about 190HP with gobs of torque. Turbocharging brings it up to about 250.

A company in Ohio, MantaPart, makes a RWD conversion kit to fit several different transmissions. You'd have to fab some mounts, but it can be done!
