no...m10 head bolts can be reused.

Just check the threads and make sure they are clean and in good condition.

Also clean the holes in the block, make sure they are free of dirt and oil/coolant

I second that they can be reused, on M20 BMW motors, they use stretch bolts, designed to be replaced every time. M10's are not that way. Torque em to spec, clean the bolt holes & threads. BMW shop mechanic I knew for long time advised the same. You can reused flywheel bolts also, despite what some say, just put red loctite on em.

M10's do not use strech bolts. You can use them over and over as long as they are in good shape. You could use ARP studs if you want.

Make sure the bolts threads are in good shape and they are not damaged and you are suposed to reuse them. MAKE SURE you clean the bolt holes well, I use Q-tips, brake clean and compressed air.

the M20 is the only old school engine that you can not reuse them on.

always replace when:

over 25 years old,

reused several times,

prior over heated,

corroded,

over tightened,

stretched,

.....do you feel lucky when they're just $3.50 each ?
