I assume you will put a lock nut on the new pivot bolts? Or will you spot weld them at the right height.

you can do it by loosening the compound slightly 

and setting up your tool geometry correctly, too.

 

That's a really neat idea- I'm a bit impressed that the 'socket head'

was soft enough to turn without digging in and breaking things.

Usually those fasteners have really hard heads.  Umm.  yeah.
