Saved myself $95, and beefed it up a bit.

Now all I need to do is make sure I weld it into the right position on the "new" floor.  I used 0.090" plate with Grade 10.5 hex head cap screws.

I thought about using the drill press and an angle grinder, but "I know a guy" with a metal lathe and carbide cutters (and 40 years' experience).  He gave me some help on the pivot bolts.

I assume you will put a lock nut on the new pivot bolts? Or will you spot weld them at the right height.

You assumption is correct.  Both nuts are jamb nuts that will grad the threads tight when I set the proper depth.

Looks like your friend has a spherical cutting tool holder of some kind. I've seen them in pictures but never run across or used one in anyones shop. You've done some good work there

you can do it by loosening the compound slightly 

and setting up your tool geometry correctly, too.

 

That's a really neat idea- I'm a bit impressed that the 'socket head'

was soft enough to turn without digging in and breaking things.

Usually those fasteners have really hard heads.  Umm.  yeah.
