Swapping long neck input flanges

offsubject

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of replacing a broken long neck diff from my 1968 '02.  Given that the long neck diff in NK/1600-2/2002 came with two styles of input flange (three bolt w/guibo and 4 bolt with u-joint), is it straightforward to pull an input flange from one and place on another? Or does that involve cracking open the diff to replace things like crush washers etc. Would make sourcing a replacement simpler if not constrained to one type of input flange and can simply take the flange from my broken unit and swap it over.

Thanks!

...so, yes.  the flange is not part of the pinion stack,

like it is in the shortneck.
