My rev counter stopped working today

Went for a drive today and all was fine until suddenly I see the revs way too low

Not zero but like 500 revs instead of 1000, also not getting up enough

Any ideas ?

1) Check the connector on the black wire on the - side (1) of the coil.

2) Check the connector on the black wire to the back of the instrument pod.

3) Check the ground of your instrument pod.

I have an electronic ignition...

It's just reading low, not flickering?  And the engine is running normally?  Normal (OEM) points & condenser ignition system, no Pertronix, aftermarket CD box, etc.  If no to all three questions, then John most likely has the answer--bad connection, probably under the hood, where things can corrode and wiggle loose.
