(Solved) Lower Timing Chain Cover Bolt Clearance

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to remove the lower time chain cover but don't seem to have enough clearance to get a socket or wench on one of the bolts. It's the second from the bottom right in the picture. What am I missing here?

You need a smaller wench...  or more of them.

Replace with the proper diameter Allen head bolt; (future) problem solved.

Or take a Dremel to the lip around the bolt hole flange to remove 1-2mm of aluminum.  The casting is plenty thick to lose a little metal.
