1968 2000tilux - restore / rebuild

Removed the rear bumper which was a challenge due to the rust, also removed the gas tank, which I unexpectedly found has a pin hole leak.

Next on the list is to drop the rear suspension and have it sand blasted along with the wheels so I can paint everything.  Unexpectedly, I find myself having to replace my truck's engine, so this will take some time to get back to it looks like.  Interested in widening the wheels to the tisa specs, but we'll see.

Getting a batch of parts together to get sand blasted.  Considering having the wheels widened to Tisa specs, but not sure about this or how the Tisa wheels compare to my 14x5 1/2" wheels in regards to offset.  One post I've read suggests the Tisa wheels are the same spec as the 2000ti wheels, so maybe no modification is needed?

Everything is torn down at this point, only have to remove the bearings and a few minor bolts here and there.  I guess I should have a plan for the wheels before I get them sandblasted.

Those 14x5.5" wheels might treat ya right as-is.

Cool to see ya chipping away at this one!

Keep on trucking, jim h

I found a post on this forum that says the 2000ti wheels are the same size as the Tisa, so I may already have what I thought I wanted.  All four wheels have a date code of 71 while the spare's is 67 so possibly the spare wheel is originally from the car.

In 68 the NKs got the sideloader diff just like 2500/2800/2800CS.  My 2000 has a 4.10.

So was 68 was the only year to get the sideloader, or 68 through x?  I haven't had the cover off yet to ID mine, but it will need new seals so eventually I'll open it up

yeah, and the tilux came with 5.5 as well - if you want to make some TISA sell the 5.5s for good money and get a cheap set of 5" to cut up, you'll be better off in the long run. Or stick with the 5.5s :-)

I had found somewhere the mention of the cs wheels but I can't find the thread now.  My wheels look to be ET40 or ET37.5 depending on how they're measured.  At any rate, this make deciding much easier, just to clean them up and enjoy them as is!

Sideloaders started in 68, same as when the front subframe changed to 2002 style through 72 end of production.  2000Tilux and Tii got the 3.91 sideloader diff.
