What's Your Favorite Road?

These are no secrets, but very nice when they are empty.

The 3 Twisted Sisters in the western Hill Country of central Texas... Gorgeous in the Fall. But you should really run it during the off-season to avoid the Harley riders that congest everything. Watch for deer. :)

Or Lime Creek Road if you are near Austin...again, can be congested except early in the mornings.  Newly repaved, beautiful, tight turns with a couple of 1st gear switchbacks and one closing-radius left-hander (going uphill) that is pure evil if you don't know it. Lots of off-course incidents at that one.

For me its the Great Ocean Road in Victoria Australia. 151 miles of twisties with the ocean on one side and green on the other. But you have to hit it very early, mid week to get a good run. Otherwise too many American tourists in motor homes  :)

GREAT idea for a thread, MF.  Here's my regular 'spirit drive' I'd like to share, that I do at least twice a month...

No cares of secrecy -- in fact I'd want everyone ever out here to drive it...  Many, many twisties, lots of shifting, plus some serious elevation changes -and then add in the most awesome scenery.  It's just SO GOOD!

Pikes Peak Colorado. 12.42 miles 156 turns, averagee 7% grade ending at over 14 thousand feet and until the summer of 2011 it was all dirt.  You want to talk about a bunch of crazy MF's.

Thanks for supporting, I like your roadside shot, it always pays to have a camera in the car!  Although the security is not tops in an 02....

Thanks for posting guys, actually my request to not post location is two folds, cops and complaints.

I do some urban driving and prefer to keep the areas unmarked, although most people can find out if they really want to.  I find it good judgement to disclose only what you have to in this case it is car and road, location optional.

I have one more to share, although it is just a diagram....

Its an urban hill that is comprised of four parts:

1) Start by accelerating up the hill

2) The road 'kisses' your car by loading the suspension as you climb....

3) As you reach the middle of the hill there is a convex mirror which gives you a brief glimpse of your car

4) Lift off the throttle and feel the suspension change as you reach the top of the hill and eventual 'stop' sign

Cheers,

MF
