steering and suspension Is Powder Coating 2002 Strut Housing A Good Idea?

I am restoring a 74 2002tii.  I have all the suspension parts ready to go to the powder coater, but didnt know if if it was a good idea to powder coat the strut housing.  My concern is the axle stub that the bearings sit on.  Could the higher kiln temps harm this axle stub?

Powdercoating is usually done at about 400 degrees, so no, it will not.

Yep. Powder coating shouldn't be an issue. Just be sure they don't blast or coat the stub and gland nut threads.

You could also consider cad or zinc plating the whole dang thing. Have done that a couple times for giggles.

it's only an issue with *some* magnesium-alloy race wheels and other forged items.

Only if you powder- coat the threads, bearing surfaces or caliper mounting pads.
