1) 1984 VW Rabbit GTi Silver - wish I still had it to drive while I worked on my '02.

2) 1989 VW Jetta 16v Silver - Wish I had been able to put the motor in the GTi.

All the while wanted to own an '02. A friend introduced me to them when he built a '72 into a real road-going monster that's such a blast to drive.

1974 Honda Civic - it was free, and worth every penny

1984 VW Rabbit Convertable - chick car, paid too much

1973 Volvo 144 - a miserable POS, falling apart $$$ to fix, what was I thinking?

1981 Honda Prelude - it was free, and worth every penny

1978 BMW 320i - finally, a respectable car!

1980 BMW 528i - a five-year love affair that ended in rust. Now in the care of someone with welding skills.

2001 VW Golf - My daily driver and 1st new car. Very competent if not exactly thrilling.

1971 BMW 2002 - Weekends only. Fun! Fun! Fun!

O.K. this has helped me try and put a list together. It would be way cool if I had a pic of EVERY car that passed through my hands, however I do have quite a few.

I have been a car nut since before I could walk according to my parents, so naturally I have had ALOT in the last nineteen yrs...that's right I scored my first real car at the age of twelve! It was a '58 Edsel Villager wagon. SInce that alot of early sixties caddy's, alot of exporting to Europe/Japan in the late nineties, three toyota 4x4 pickups '67 Vw bugs that got me across this country more than a few times, buses that hanger-naded after a few thousand miles, mid sixties muscle and early sixties "pre-muscle" two door hardtops with alot of horsies (mostly GM products)....oh yeah and over one dozen Volvo 122s' from early to mid sixties. My fav's are the early-mid sixties Impala SS. I have had a few of these, cool cars but getting expensive. So so much for the "NON BMW" list.

Here is the BMW list in order of my ownership:

1972 Malaga auto (got me hooked even though it was an auto!)

1972 Sahara

1972 Sahara sunroof

1976 Malaga sunroof

1972 tii Baikal 2761377

1972 Inka (my fave, still have)

1990 325is Black (sweeet!)

1989 325i auto Bronzit

1988 535is Silver (great car)

1983 528e five speed (my daily driver)

1987 M3 Silver (finest car I have ever owned)

1968 1600 (wonderful little reliable sweetheart of a ride)

1972 tii Baikal 2761389

Still looking for that one owner all orig 3200CS :)

In continuing the tradition I have a few cars for sale with pics in the "for sale" section, check 'em out.

Yes I change cars as much as I change women....it keeps me going. Later dudes, -A

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
