Brake Booster?

That definitly looks like the afore mentioned booster vac hose. If your brakes are not working well this could be the reason. If a PO did this it could be that the booster is bad, or like mine was - filled with fluid from a bad MC.

There should be a length of this hose from the booster to a check valve, then another length from the check valve to your manifold.

Yes, there WAS skin on my knuckles before I started the repair...

can see in your picture that the fitting that is supposed to be on the booster for this to connect to is missing. also looks like the check valve may be in the other end of the hose you are holding.

with the booster open to atmosphere(dirt, etc) like it is, if it wasn't toast already, it is now. get a new booster, hose and check valve.

Hi,

Thanks for the responses.  As MLyte pointed out and see in the picture below.  The brake booster is missing a piece and is open to the world.  Does anyone have a diagram or a picture of how the set up is supposed to work.  As suggested, I need a new booster, hose and check valve.  Which piece is attached to the booster?  Anything else?  Thanks in advance!
