Attn: 02 Washingtonians - need paint/prep recommendation

hello fellow 02 Washingtonians

I need a recommendation on good paint shop or bodywork guy that can affordably prep my car for paint then take it to a shop. I have 76 that is ready for prep save for some minor welding. The body itself is totally straight and its original paint is still good but the clear coat failed. It also needs it sunroof repaired as part of this process.

Any suggestions?

I strongly recommend Absolute Autobody in Lynnwood. They did my bodywork, welded up my trim and reflector holes, and painted my car in Glasurit (best quality paint out there/original paint on 02's). They did a great job for a great price, and if I ever have another car to paint they'd be the first guys I'll take it to. Tell them Riley sent you. If you need proof then you can take a look at my 02. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Plus, they are super nice guys and easy to work with.

Thanks I will check them out! And I have seen your car i think around town. It is beautiful!! Can I ask offline what you paid? I understand from your blog that you knew the owner so i imagine it was a bit of a deal.

Hi folks

any more recommendations?

Anyone worked with the place on Lake City Way?

I checked in with the prior suggestion and they do seem very high quality but definitely set up for more insurance work and thus in the upper regions of cost.

You might contact Paul Holman, Holman's Auto body 73rd and Roosevelt. We have used him over the years and he does a really good job at a fair price. 206-522-6056

I have had terrible experience with this outfit, the thought of which alone raises my blood pressure.

I had once used them for a different car and it came out great. The next time I took my 2002. I will never use them again. Never ever again. No.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
