  1. Last night during a blast up the mountain my tach wavered then died. Is it a mechanical tach? If so, then i think the cable broke. That sound reasonable? Then, insult to injury, the associated tach light bulb burned out. That’s a dash module pull? Let me know if i should be on the lookout for anything as a dig into it. thanks.
  2. Hey Ace, if i was going for a 90% pure track car, what numbers would i be looking for? I remember looking at the IE site and their “best handling setup” said something like 350# springs. I’m willing to go that stiff, i just don’t want to flare the wheel wells. They still look really good w/ no rust and i can bring myself to cut them. So i live w/ smaller tires.
  3. How stock do you want to go? I’ve got a stock suspension w/ i think Eibach springs up front on stock perches. Aftermarket springs in back. We could swap?
  4. general questions on front suspension: a) are they Tii struts or non-tii? b) do we know what the spring rate for the coilovers? c) how do we know if the strut is solid (no cracks, etc. etc...) do people magnaflux these things? if i'm doing track days its something i'd like to know... d) these don't appear to have camber / caster plates associated w/ them. they bolt into stock location? e) status of shocks - have you driven on the shocks? i've got a 1969 1600, and per AceAndrew would be willing to figure out what works for you. my car is on its way to being a mostly dedicated track car. whew. lots of questions. thanks,
  5. I’d do the front rear suspension if the first guy doesn’t want the whole shebang. Im Bay Area and could pick up.
  6. Still have the radiator? I’m in San Jose as well.
  7. thanks, i'll keep that in mind: 10:1 if i use a 292 . if i go for a 304, same?
  8. 129mm from centerline of the cam? what would the gap be between piston top and block top? Here in CA it appears if you want to run on pump gas you're stuck w/ 9.5:1. though i'm thinking it'll be 70% track car i still want to be able to drive it a bit on the street...
  9. I just bought an engine that i want to rebuild for a mostly track day car. first question (of many more coming) as i tear into is how to know if the block or head have been skimmed at some point in the past? i don't want to get too far down the road and then find out there are issues w/ one or the other. thanks
  10. Where are you located? Would I need anything else for the 5spd conversion?
  11. folks keep talking fit. try a couple different brands. some work better for oval shaped heads, some for rounder heads. often you can return if it doesn't fit you. the standard test is, put the helmet on, then watch Grand Tour, or Top Gear or something like that... you should be able to make it thru the show... good luck and also a huge fan of a HANS. after doing some lemon's racing and then doing a track day in my 2002, i'm looking at roll bars HANS and real seat belts. sorta kills the "drive the family to the farmers market" thing though. one does have to make choices...
  12. willing to part the 123?
  13. Hey, you have any of this remaining? Let me know.
  14. William, i was looking king for something like this: A 304 would be more appropriate for my use. If you decide to lower your price, let me know... thanks!
  15. I’d take the 304. How much? I’ll PM you.
  16. the turn signal levers the emergency flasher button both are REALLY hard to come by and quite obscure. and don't know where you live but they shouldn't be all rusty... good luck. i like what GUY said, pull everything you can and use it to trade as you build up yours.
  17. will do. but likely not for a while. garage needs new slab. >6in slope from one side to other... big redwood lifted one side. Not to self, do NOT plant a redwood 80 - 100 years ago withing 10ft of a building...
  18. Interested. I live in San Jose. I’d love to talk about your engine, your Lynx experience and why you’re going to a M42. i’ll send you a PM w/ my phone.
  19. I bought it back in March when i sent my PM above. So, OP didn’t respond w/ a “sold” tag. I haven’t installed yet (spent the summer driving around and having fun) and now garage is being re-paved so just going back to remember what i had... as an aside; i also sometimes go back thru old “for sale items” and ping folks. I wish more would tag SOLD so i wouldn’t get my hopes up... good luck!
  20. Hey, can you take pics of marking on the various items? Block, heads; marking on tranny’s. It’ll help you sell them as folks will know better what you’ve got... there’s lots of variants out there. I’m asking cuz’ i might be interested. ;)
