  1. Now on the hunt to try to save my 13's. Anybody run the Avon Cr6ZZ's? "Street legal vintage road race tire" They make a 185/70r13. About the same height as the 205/60's but a touch narrower. (Might be able to get rid of my spacers up front! Pricey, but 80 treadwear! (sticky) Durability is not my main concern, but looking for a tire I can run dry and wet
  2. I was thinking about decreasing toe in a bit for quicker turn in on autocross. I am aware of the downsides, my question is: Is there a rule of thumb for turning the tie rod sleeve, like "1/4 turn equals X amount of change"? I will mark things well so I can put it back if I don't like it.
  3. Well, thanks for the experienced feedback. It echoes what I’ve heard from others as far as the 888’s go. I loved the RA1’s and told Toyo they discontinued the wrong tire.
  4. Does anyone have experience with either the R888 or R888R vs RA1 on our cars? They also make the RR, but dry only. I was running Federal’s on my street wheels, and RA1’s on another set for Autocross. Thinking about switching to to R888’s for street/wet autocross and RR’s for dry autocross. I know the answer is 15’s but I love me some 13’s on these cars!
  5. Not sure on that size. Tire Rack said “several” sizes, Toyo didn’t elaborate much past the 205/60’s
  6. Just got off the phone with Tire Rack and Toyo. 205/60R13 RA1 discontinued Haven't tried R888’s but hear people don’t like them as much.
  7. That’s my car the arms are on. Very happy with them, made a very noticeable difference. Car had bad understeer with stock arms when pushed hard at autocross. Just tried them out for the first time last weekend, very happy. Tracks well through corners and now have slight oversteer, which is way better to deal with! Temps were very cold and my RA1 tires weren’t at their best. That said, besides being the oldest car by about twenty years, I ran in the top third of the 65 car field with a motor that’s pretty stock. Will be going to another autocross in a few weeks, hopefully it will be warmer. Also, Jeremy at DanJer has been awesome to work with. The workmanship on the arms is exceptional!
  8. Blue Book arrived safely and just as described. Thanks!
  9. Is the book in English or German? Thanks, John
  10. They aren’t as common as they once were, and someone under 40 most likely has never used them. You need “Mag style” with a “short shank” Most parts stores and tire shops can get them, they just may not know it. I used these: Gorilla Automotive PN # 73137SMB Amazon had them.
  11. Just a road legal, 80 treadwear rating, 185/70r13 Vintage tarmac rally tire. Price though...yikes! https://rogerkrausracing.com/pdfpricing/Avon CR6ZZ 2019.pdf
  12. I’m also prepared that the longer control arms may cause me to have to roll the front lips. I believe the IE fixed plates are about the max you can tip the tops in with stock diameter springs. I’m really happy with the Bav Auto springs, could be stiffer at Auto-x but not sure I want too much stiffer on the street, so not really ready to jump to coilovers with their smaller diameter springs. Those would let me run adjustable camber plates and get the top of the tire farther a way from the lip...and of course gain the more camber I need.
  13. The Auto-x setup is 13x6 ET27 ATS Classics with the 205/60r13 RA-1 Street setup is 13x6 ET28 Ronal Kleeblat with 205/60r13 Federal 595’s On both setups i run an 1/8” spacer on front as HARD cornering results in a SLIGHT rub between strut and sidewall. Even with spacer it’s still there a little, but just enough to make a shiny spot on the strut, and shiny spot on the sidewall that I monitor but does not appear to be removing rubber. Like I said only noticeable on sustained hard cornering (long sweepers) but then just for a moment. In the rear i did have to roll the lips a bit, but wasn’t too hard and didn’t break the paint. No rubbing in rear. If you wish we can have conversation about my lip rolling method. More pics.
  14. You should look at Avon CR6ZZ’s I hear great things....get out your wallet though!!!!
  15. I’m running the IE fixed camber plates, (so not near enough) I wear the outsides of the fronts badly. I have ordered a set of lengthened control arms from forum member DanJer (?) which will hopefully get the rest of the front tire on the ground. To my embarrasment i don’t the numbers for the caster and toe. The car had the camber plates, Bav Auto springs, and Billy sports when I bought it. I added IE bars and strut brace, and wheels and tires. It appears to have a bit of caster, as the wheel snaps back to center well, and does have a bit of weight to the steering, but I like the feel, and never felt it inhibited the toss-ability. Air pressures are 44 front an 40 rear which according to the scuffing on the side tread looks about right. I’ve played a bit with the pressure difference to try to help the understeer, but no significant change noticed. Hopefully more camber will fix that.
  16. Went autocrossing last weekend in my 73 rolling on my 205/60 RA-1’s. As with most auto-x events I am the oldest car there, but usually manage mid-field overall for the day, and hold my own in my Superclass. Last weekend rain came down really good early in, and by god I could drive those tires pretty much just as hard in the wet. My only real change was shifting a little less aggressively. Everyone fell off quite a bit. A guy in ‘98 Vette said “man you’re kicking ass!, you got me by two seconds!” The low HP helped me not loop out of corners, but in the slaloms I was just throwing it around! I can’t say enough good about how those tires stuck! Good enough for 3rd in my superclass and 5th overall! (pic taken as rain started)
  17. What additional effort? Here was my experience with Longstone: Me: 4 CN36’s please Longstone: Ok My porch a week later: Look boss, Tires!
  18. The light really made it pop, almost made my numbers look photoshopped in.
