  1. These look to be VW mk1 rabbit flairs and made from steel.
  2. BBS mahle 15x7 et13 diy refinish with eastwood 2 part grey ceramic engine paint, I was hoping the centers would be a little darker but they turned out pretty good. 205/50r15 tires will be fitted in a couple days before after
  3. I'm looking for an authentic nardi/personal steering wheel adapter hub. I have an aftermarket one but I don't like the fit. I also have an authentic momo hub if anyone is interested in a trade. Thanks - Neil
  4. I have a turbo replica air dam that's made for use with stock fenders. I just ordered it from a company sweden. Ut the buyer doesn't need it now. Pm me if you're interested.
  5. Thanks Paul! My initial thought was to polish first but I started getting crazy thoughts last night... time to polish!
  6. I'm refinishing a set of bbs mahle wheels and I'm looking for some help... I've stripped the old clear coat and paint, lightly sanded the centers and barrels, repaired lip damage and progressively sanded/wet sanded the lips. Now I'm ready to polish the lips and paint the centers... so what should I do first, paint or polish??? my concerns are if I polish the lips first will the compounds contaminate the raw wheel center effecting paint adhesion? If I paint the centers first do I risk damaging the paint later with high speed metal polishing? I'm leaning towards painting first and allowing adequate dry time before polishing and possibly masking the painted edge to protect it if necessary. Any help is greatly appreciated! -Neil
  7. I agree with Toby that having a whole car is nice, all the small odds and ends can ad up fast if you have to track them down after. Plus you can part out what you don't need, and scrap the shell. This is the route I am going with my M42 swap, my local Sims metal yard pays $400 for a shell plus whatever I can sell off will get me atleast half back what I paid for the car ($1200).
  8. I spaced mine as close to original as I could make out through pictures and marked their location with tape. As for cutting I measured the back of the light and traces them out on the tape, cut it all out with drill bits and a small dremel wheel. Edit- I might have moved them in a little closer to the license plate after marking with tape
  9. https://www.bar.ca.gov/Industry/Engine_Change_Guidelines.html Looks like emissions have to meet or exceed the vehicles original equipment so on an m42 you'd need to keep the evap canister, 02 sensor and install a cat. I would think you could use a header like jakes and install an 02 sensor in the downpipe and a cat inplace of the resonator and you'd be good to go... of course I'd contact a ref about the details to be sure. Google "CA smog engine swap" and you will find alot of articles amd writeups on the subject... Here is a detailed e30 s52 swap bared and smogged in California .. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=251231
  10. I'm fairly positive that you can smog an engine swapped car. As long as the engine is from a newer car, has smog equipment as required (cat) and is an engine from the same category of engne (4 cylinder to 4 cylinder). It might need to be bared by a dmv inspection... something to look into My cousin had an 80's ford ranger with a newer efi engine - neil

    She drives!

Great work! I'm sure that thing will be so fun to drive once you get the tuning dialed in. I'd love to see a video of it running!

    Oil Pan

Man, I could have sworn the ranger pan was front sump, I guess I had it backwards... it's been awhile. Are you familiar with burton power or retro ford in the UK? They both have aftermarket wet sumps for rwd duratec swaps, I'm pretty sure they are front sump, if I'm wrong I did find a nice dry sump kit for under $1k. I'll dig up my old cortina parts list... what did you do for air/fuel delivery and engine management? Oem throttle body and ecu?

    Oil Pan

I just stumbled upon your build... too bad pics are down on the site right now, I'm very excited to see what you done thus far... I'm a big fan of the duratec, great motor. I was very close to building a ford cortina with a 2.5 duratec before I got into 2002's! Did you look into the ranger duratec pan? It's a front sump, maybe too big to clear steering and subframe?
  15. 3 flairless turbo air dams are here, I'll be working on fitment with a bumper soon. More pics to follow!
  16. Well my aftermarket lens came today... overall it looks good and fits ok. The color is a little off so mixing with my oem drivers lens might look funky and the reflector lens is red on clear inside with makes it look a bit different. As for fit the turn signal edge of the lens is a little off and requires the bolt on that side to be pretty fit to get it sealed up. Overall I'd say if you want like new lenses but can't shell out for oem i'd get a driver and passenger of these lenses so they match and do your best to get them on good and flush. Driverside is oem bmw passenger ebay aftermarket -Neil
  17. Ok guys, i'll be the guineapig... Only because I got a great deal on my oem lens and I'll compare the two lenses and report back. ?
  18. I just saw these on ebay, the price was great but then I realized they're not oem lenses... anyone have experience with these or know their quality? I just acquired a very mint oem drivers lens and would like a passenger side to match. Thanks!
  19. I've seen 3m adhesive backed chrome strips used on the door cards. Looks good in my opinion if you're ok not using oem. There's a picture of it in this thread
  20. Update! I ordered 3 turbo style air dams from http://www.02-depan.se/ for use without fender flares. I was able to ship 3 for the same price as shipping one. 1-2 of them will be for sale. I'll post pictures of fitment when they show up.
  21. From what I've seen the 5 bolt wheels are a bit hard to come by and are usually black leather wrapped. If you find a momo wheel, I have a momo hub I'll sell you (the wheel is pretty shot). - Neil
