  1. I think it’s just how you install them. I went original early long ones with my 76 but then switched to Vietnamese stainless steel shorties. Keeps from drilling more holes for the ears on the rears. I also don’t mount the fronts to the fenders. I use a rubber spacer wedged in there. My thought is if ever hit…maybe the bumper won’t take the fenders with em if they bend!
  2. I am getting “close” to sending my inka 74tii to paint. I am doing early shorty bumpers and have welded up bumper holes. I was planning on nabbing some new knee trim and keeping it on this car. My previous 76 I got rid of all of it. New kits only give the other three parts and not the rear by the bumper. I have a drivers side I can rehab but car didn’t come with passenger side. What is everyone’s opinion on keeping that back piece and availability…I guess only from the used market? I am of the mind that I like the space filled back there even if it is not going on with early long bumpers with rubber inserts.
  3. Got the other one! Applied penetrant to both and it’s all about the leveraging from side to side. Thanks for the help! Can’t imagine doing that on a car that had paint on it! Boo!
  4. No dice still. Clips all removed. Moves up and stops.
  5. Wouldn’t it just push against itself? The top of my wiper is flush…no place for rod to push down.
  6. I have searched and have even done this on my 76 a few years ago. Do I push the clip towards the passenger side and just pull up on the arm? I cannot get them to come up past a point on either side. The clip moves over but they will not pop off. Any tips?
  7. My 74 is a sunroof too! Good to know! My 76 was not and had them. Almost made the same mistake as you! I hunt for parts as I see em!
  8. Have any idea if these are the same in an 02? My current project is a 74tii with no interior. They look like my memory of my 76? Thanks. Could use!
  9. Have done that job myself. So much work. What spot welder are you using? Mine were all plug welds…so many!
  10. Neighbors loved it! 74tii yard art…
  11. Bump. Just need one bow. Have made the rod at this point. These are the same as a non sunroof car. Thanks.
  12. Bump. Had a lead but no dice! still in need.
  13. Yup! I have posted on the euro 02 forum as well and a nice guy posted the schematics…but also for the normal crank version.
  14. Recently I did oem sealwith glass ordered from W and N. Arrived safely to us. It’s an ordeal to get in but the front was easier than the back!
  15. Good morning. I’ve posted in the past of my strange wabasto sunroof mechanism that is in my 74tii. I am proud to say through research of mercedes parts and use of my welder, it works great and slides back and forth with ease. I am starting to plan how to get ready for installing the interior parts of everything. I currently have no rods or bows with the car. My understanding is the back area of the tray should have a board(I will try and use some sort of synthetic material to aid in longevity) that slides into the little tabs. Are the four bolts or so in the back supposed to go through that piece. Those screw/bolts are all currently still there. Next question. Bows and rods. My understanding was the sunroof cars only used a couple bows and one rod in the back on the board. If you look in pics all of the normal bow holes currently have plastic grommets in them. Wondering if having the wabasto they had some Frankenstein way of using the non sunroof liner? Any ideas how many bows/rods I need for this version and type of liner I should get? I have only installed non sunroof headliner in the past. Let me know if I can take a better pic of something.
  16. I got mine there a few years ago now when it was much cheaper and the best part is the shipping! Included and they dropped it on my driveway. You can find my post when I got it but I think I paid 1900. It was crazy.
  17. I love mine more than any tool I have ever purchased. I had a guy come in with a ground penetrating radar and marked up my garage. I had up to 6 inches thick in some places and avoided all of the post tension cables.
  18. Got the brace pushed way up, compressed the foam doughnut, and ground more metal off new arm…I can, with some force, get the car into reverse and out. The other 4 gears feel great as does the new guibo and evidently I got the driveshaft in there straight as no weird vibrations. I’ll count this as a win. The right length shifter would have been nice.
  19. I’ll go back out and mess with it. Will try and get a picture. The rod now literally hits the platform when trying for reverse….with all new bushings and mounts it’s pretty straight and tight. I’ll take the support bracket down and see if that makes any changes.
