  1. JakeB/Classic Daily has a well documented pdf on the M42 swap. For that swap he used the stock M42 radiator, the pics doesn't look like he cut/bent the front support, but clearance to me is unknown since the M42 is smaller than the M20. There are threads on r3v that show lots of E30 guys using the M42 radiator on their M20 cars. I guess if you put two and two together it could probably fit, but unknown until someone tries.
  2. In for 1, I will document my process of getting the motor into my M20 swap. I currently plan on using the Scirocco (w/ AC) radiator, G260 w/ E30 driveshaft.
  3. Hello, if this is still available. I'd also like this packed and shipped to socal. $100 shipped?
  4. Group buy? I've been in the market for this and the CAtuned kit, which is obviously your direct competition. The kit looks great, and while comparing to the CAtuned kit the huge +++ is that you get a custom constructed subframe, no need to send in or pay a deposit for a core. Same badass chromoly axles. We'd have to supply our own diff and e36 differential cover, the CAtuned kit includes the diff cover. It would be awesome to get a DIY installation guide.
  5. Man, don't know if it would've helped but I always put big pieces of cardboard on the radiator when working anywhere remotely near it.
  6. This is exactly what I was afraid of, the paint/coating longevity and how it breaks down over time. Thanks for sharing! With a dye, the color would fade but there wouldn't be any residual material to breakdown and create a mess.
  7. I've been contemplating this also, but the duplicolor stuff is a dye and a coating. Not too sure I want a coating on the fabric. If i do go this route, it would be after I try the iDye and that option fails. I've read some good reviews on the iDye poly doing great work on 100% polyester suits. Not apples to apples but its the best option out there for synthetic fabric. And I got one of these things that may make quick work of washing/extracting leftover dye.
  8. I do have a wagner steamer, thanks, I'll look into that. One issue is the dye could possibly ruin the unit, as draining/rinsing the thing is near impossible. Maybe one of those handheld ebay steamers for a one time use wouldn't be a bad idea.
  9. Hi All, I've picked up a set of VW Recaro LSBs to mate to my 2002. The problem is they are faded barney purple. I'm going to make them black. No funds at the moment for reupholstery, I'm in the middle of a M20 swap. I can't take off the covers, or submerge them so there is some issue with application. I've done some research on dying/painting etc. I think my best bet its to go with a higher quality dye than Walmart Rit. And I wanted to avoid the spray cans as I just think paint/dye combo on fabric is a kind of a wacky idea. So we have Rit, all purpose dye. No UV protection, poor durability and mediocre adhesion. Meh. Jacquard Products has some pretty interesting dyes. Acid (Vinegar) Dye, Basic Dye (Similar to Rit, but better), and iDye Poly. iDye Poly is made for synthetic fabric, but does not utilize an acid to set. iDye instructions: http://www.jacquardproducts.com/assets/jacquard-site/product-pages/dyes/idye/iDye%20Poly%20Instructions_2014.pdf Needs heat, boiling water, salt, constant agitation for 1 hour, then wash with mild detergent. That method doesn't work so well on car seats, even if I did take off the covers they would probably shrink. So here's my game plan. Hot water in a spray bottle, salt, iDye. Saturate a spot, agitate with a rag/brush, apply heat during agitation via heatgun, wipe excess, repeat. I assume this will probably be an all day job for both seats, as I don't know how many coats/applications I will need. Then after a couple days, I'll just wipe them down with water and a rag or use my carpet cleaner's upholstery attachment. Will post pics of the process. Here's a pic of the seats from google, not my actual seats, mine have no rips:
  10. any center grilles? shipped to san marcos, ca?
  11. I would love these seats, I also live in San Diego county. Can you elaborate on how how to mount them?
  12. Yup, plus the heat generated by the brakes. It doesn't cool, it just doesn't get as hot, if that makes sense.
  13. I am sorry if you are offended. You seem rather short and antagonistic with my posts. I'm not saying IE/GC is better or worse. All I am saying is I am in the market for a more plug and play system that is easy to install, cost effective, and easily rebuildable. I love KW suspension, especially the V3s for daily driving, but that is just my opinion... No need to rebut my opinion. If you are not in the market for said product, that is ok.. And yes, BC Racing kits have provided both of those applications for other cars.
  14. KW is creme de la creme. There is a big downside though. The biggest cost of ownership of a coilover suspension is how much it costs to rebuild. KW requires shipment, significant downtime, and is much more cost prohibitive on the front and backend. With BC, just call them and buy 4 new struts, they ship them to you for $395 out the door. You simply unbolt your coilover brackets, set the preload, bolt everything back in. 1/2 day downtime if you take your time.
  15. I beg to differ. Ireland Engineering has a great following, for good reason, but there is significant downtime involved with taking off my suspension, shipping it in, and they paying the $1,400 plus to get something that is similar in theory. With BC you get camber plates, ride height, dampening adjustability. You can even have the struts inverted so the fluid doesn't get as hot, add on an external reservoir, rear remote adjusters, etc. Ground Control is also a good option, but IMO not great since it costs $1700. BC is unheard of here simply because they do not have an application for the 2002. Anywhere else in the industry they are definitely tried and proven. Heck, I've won autoX events on them and have been daily driving them for a very long time. The E30 rear kit consists of a separate spring and damper, I would assume they would do the same thing on the 2002 chassis.
  16. I hope there is a demand for this product in the 2002 community. This thread is to show BC that there is enough interest for them to start R&D and make a product for the 2002. Once there is enough interest, we can start a group buy. I'm talking about a true bolt on system for a reasonable price. No shipping your suspension in for fabrication, no expensive rebuild processes, options to provide way more than the current products out there (external reservoir, inverted struts, swift spring upgrades, remote adjuster). I have BC Racing BR coilovers on my Subaru WRX and an E30. They are great coils and I have been competitive with them at track days and autoX events. The kits normally cost $1,000, and the replacement struts are 80/each. Adjustable ride height, dampening. I needed new struts after 75k of driving on crappy San Diego roads. Instead of rebuilding I just order new struts and replace them with minimal downtime (1/2 a day). The units are made of coated steel (heavy), and the only other viable product is KW V1 (Inox Aluminum) or the Suspension Techniques Coilover (Same as V1 but Steel). But rebuilding through KW is a pain... Cost wise, the other options aren't even close. $1,700 for the full GC kit. IE $625 for the rear, up to $1500 for the fronts. Plus add that your current suspension has value that you can sell to reduce your bottom line.
  17. Hmm.. $327, ok let me think about this overnight. Ebay ACC is $166 carpet + 70 floormats shipped. I do agree your kit is superior, but I'll have to let it sink in before I spend the additional cash.
  18. Sweet, I like the very last one with the darker vinyl. Does this include shipping? 300 shipped for carpet + mats is pretty much awesome and a much better alternative to the ACC molded carpet kit I was about to buy. Let me know how and where to pay.
  19. Is this $300 for the carpet kit + floormats? If so, TAKE MY MONEY. Let me know.
  20. Trying to find swap mounts, transmission mounts for the G260 too if possible. Manimal is MIA
  21. message sent, let me know, ready to purchase.
