  1. Valvoline VR1 20-50. Has the high zinc for classic cars and can be bought at most parts stores.
  2. On the front of the car, you cant just replace the plastic grills with the stainless steel grills. The openings and grill sizes are different between square and roundies
  3. Let me take a picture of mine when i get home. I have a Air Pump / AC pulley on my 76
  4. Yup, my ford inertia switch is mounted behind the fuel pump under the fire extinguisher.
  5. I guess the PO used a too short bolt and it stripped the first couple threads. Either way, problem solved. Your ground strap is correct as is.
  6. I redid my seats with ZoomZoom covers. The kits cost $1500 front and back and a local upholstery shop charged $900 to refoam the seats and fit the covers. Turned out amazing, but not cheap.
  7. ^ John is always awesome with wiring questions. John wouldn't the starter try to spin if there was voltage feeding the starter solenoid in the RUN position? However easy enough to test with a multimeter.
  8. I have slide the entire engine and subframe into the car from underneath. I had to jack the car up super high and it was pretty sketchy, however once under everything lowered and lined up easily and whole process took less than an hour.
  9. You don't replace the heater. You repair it. Unbolt the heater box from the inside of the car. Replace all the foam inside the box which directs the air. Make sure all the levers work correctly. Also check the function of the heater valve located in the engine bay behind the firewall. it opens and closes the hot fluid through the heater. With a bad valve, no fluid would heat the heater.
  10. Its probably getting power from the alternator which is why its self sustaining. Is your wiring to the coil custom or completely stock? Did the previous owner remove the resistor and wire the coil direct to the fuse box or some other source?
  11. David, PM sent. To close the thread, my Cold start relay board has a dead short and is being replaced. However the alternative quick harness to the starter motor really also works great!
  12. Which fuel pump do you have? That is important. If its a 2.5psi to 4 psi pump, then it is correct and a regulator is less of a problem. If its some 10+ psi pump, then that is a different problem. Either way you should install a regulator with a gauge. Correct pump is a carter P90091 or if on a budget a AdvanEX E8016S https://www.amazon.com/Carter-P90091-Electric-Fuel-Pump/dp/B07BBDSZP1?crid=MAC86IJM8KCM&keywords=carter+fuel+pump+P90091&qid=1702903894&sprefix=carter+fuel+pump+p90091%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-1&linkCode=ll1&tag=stevenc22-20&linkId=81e64e5f31eb12420fffd786099a7492&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl I agree with OldRoller. Don't rule out electric components dying...
  13. Ive sent my CSR to Jason for him to inspect it, but in the mean time i build a quick harness off the starter and the Tii has never worked better
  14. Maybe buy a complete 76 harness. The engine form a 73 is identical so its more important to match the harness to the body as the lights and dash board controls in a 76 are different than 73. There is a complete 76 front and rear harness on ebay for $700
  15. Can you even buy these parts anymore? I cant find them on WN or Rogers....
  16. Thanks yeah, I have Jason's PCB already. I'm trouble shooting with him. Cheers Steven
  17. My Tii takes forever to fire up when cold. So i tested the cold start solenoid next to the Tuna can. If i manually apply 12v to the solenoid, it clicks. If i measure the power lead disconnected from the solenoid, i can see a 12v signal during cranking. HOWEVER when i connect the power lead to the solenoid, the solenoid doesn't click and i don't detect 12v. Its almost as if there isn't enough amps to click the solenoid over. Any thoughts?
  18. 13:1 at idle and 12:1 under load is perfect for these cars. Modern cars try to hit 14:1 for efficiency purposes.
