April 15. I head to Mid America '02Fest on April 22.
-
Had an excellent call from Mario Langsten this morning.
Glasurit Paint rep was at the shop after I left and saw the paint on the doors out in the sun. Asked if that was the paint straight out of the gun, Steve and Mario confirmed it was. Rep said "In all my years of selling this paint I have never seen it layed on so smoothly."
Confirmed with Mario, Vern will be in final color by end of day tomorrow, Friday Feb. 23.

Touch up paint has been requested. Also mentioned in my work scope email back in September.

Is that red?
Thought you'd ask why are there 6 doors, LOL

Grigio Medio sounds like an Italian wine.

Read that too.

Yes. Also adding lighted rears in the reflector position. So Vern will look the same only much better than before.

The trailing edge of the fender is supposed to be proud of the door gap to reduce wind noise, as I had gleaned.
Is it?
BTW this is why some photos make it appear the fender knee trim is out of alignment.
I cannot tell from the pictures. I'll be sure to look on my next visit.

Red 2002s are the best 2002s.

Did Mario find any acorns in the cavity near the coil? My tii still has some old acorns rolling around inside the hood. Can't seem to remove them.
No mouse or squirrel evidence even under the fuse box.

Thanks for the reminder, I will send him an e-mail about this.

Hammer and dollys, the man working on Vern is a master craftsman.

Is the belt line trim anodized or can it have dings removed and buffed?
My passenger door one is mangled, still hunting one, but the quarter panel ones I would like to remove large ding and move on.
Yes belt trim is anodized. Speedway has massaged a crushed section out of trim I sent them from my 3.0 CSi. Can't tell it was crushed.

Yes, compared, restoring the trim is a few hundred less than buying new. Bought new rain gutter trim from Blunt when it was available last year.
My KF belt was to have been replaced 20K miles ago when I had the cooling system refreshed, the one that snapped was black, so it was really old.

Sunroof drains are going to be routed to save the rockers and fenders. Not relocating the battery, the tray was removed to make the engine bay easier to media blast.

The engine was pretty tired and very well used. Mario said it had been apart before when as he was taking it apart. The K-fish belt snapped when he touched it! I only took one picture of the tear down.
Currently the original block, head and front cover are at the machine shop and should be done before Thanksgiving. All the new engine parts have been purchased and we're waiting for the pistons. Keeping the engine stock as it was before.

Well deserved, so glad I was there to see you win and capture the moment on my phone.

So glad you made it and had VIP treatment from beginning to end.

Thank you Lisa, it was an honor and a privilege to be trusted with Tesoro. Had such a great time at Brisbane reconnecting with my friends and meeting several people I've known online for years. Couldn't ask for better weather that weekend. The picnic behind Tesoro & Derby was top notch!
The traffic on the way back North was crazy heavy, Tesoro is a thoroughbred and wants to run, fast! Hope to be there in 2018 too.
Primer, Shutz and V E R O N A!

I gave Mario an out and he declined. Assured me the deadline set back in September of 2017 will be met.
