  1. I find that most nozzles in my area have "VST" rubber EPA doodads as opposed to the big bellows style, and these work better. I usually use a 1-2 o clock angle myself, but I haven't found any angle that will allow pumping at full speed.
  2. I'd have to agree. If the gas is still around, I'd have no problem keeping an 02 for the rest of my life. This video shares similar sentiments. http://growingbolder.com/media/technology/vehicles/romancing-the-road-259598.html#content_tabs
  3. There is a small hole IIRC near where the steering column goes through the firewall and exits just above the brake booster. This is the stock location. My car had a rubber grommet in the hole blocking it off.
  4. I bought a generic one at *shudder* Kragen Auto Parts for like $10, I think it was 10' long or so. XD I cut off what I didn't need.
  5. The vacuum hose that makes the brake booster work, or at least that's what it sounds like. Your brake pedal is probably very stiff, and your engine probably has a large vacuum leak.
  6. My 73tii project is currently my background, to remind me to save my money! :S
  7. This massive truck parked next to me at Target today, it is actually pretty unnerving. From inside the car all you would see is tires out the side or back windows. 5MPH bumpers didn't anticipate this fad! What do you do with a truck this big? You'd need a ladder to get anything into it!
  8. I turned 19 today, and I've owned each of the following: 1965 Plymouth Barracuda - Slant 6, Auto 1956 GMC 1/2 Ton - 248, 4 speed w/ granny gear 1999 Pontiac Transam - LS1, Auto (Boo, Auto) 1968 Plymouth Sport Satellite - 383 Torqueflite, in family since new. 80K Miles 1972 BMW 2002 - Agave - Stocker 1975 BMW 2002 - Pastelblau - 5 SPD, 3.91 LSD 1973 BMW 2002tii - Summer 2011 Project I still own the 75 and the Satellite, which is in storage while I'm in school to protect it from the elements.
  9. I had a nasty windshield leak that caused this as well, you could actually watch the water pool at the base of the windshield and flow back past the dashboard onto the carpet. It also filled my glovebox with water, soaking my paperwork before I knew.. Now it lives in a ziplock bag!
  10. If you don't mind staying in another college dorm, I have an open bed because my roommate moved out. I'm in Rohnert Park at Sonoma State, about 15-20 minutes north of Petaluma. I was planning on attending the show, not sure about Yosemite.
  11. Now I feel silly, I didn't see that last thread! *facepalm*
  12. I second Bob's endorsement of State Farm. A few years ago my mother had a 1973 Mercedes 450SL convertible, not concours quality but it was nicely taken care of. She t-boned a 4 runner at 40 MPH because the guy pulled out making a left turn and didn't see her. Thankfully nobody was hurt. The front half of the car was an accordion, but State Farm fixed it anyway after my father pointed out the NADA value was far higher than what they claimed in an attempt to write it off.
  13. I had the question mark in the title, I'm not sure on this one. On the one hand the car looks pretty much stock, but it has the states signals like you mentioned, and the 73 only 2.5MPH bumper. It also has sealed beam headlights on it, maybe it got imported and federalized? I'm not sure of all the differences between states and euro cars, but this one looks too original to be a mix-and-match job, in my opinion.
  14. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-BMW-2002-RARE-VINTAGE-MUST-SEE-/200580451925?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2eb386ce55#ht_12928wt_962 NM/NA, etc. To my untrained eye this appears to be a euro car. The lack of side reflectors, KM/H speedo, and clock where the tach should be.
  15. Sadly, Death Valley is one of the few places where I would actually pay for Supreme...
  16. I was able to solder mine back together, because my wire came off right out of the solder joint at the end! What a pain it was to put back together, I'm so glad I had that "third hand".
  17. I was planning on it, actually. Gotta give ol' blue her show debut! (Don't expect much, haha)
  18. Keeping your foot on the clutch at the light shouldn't have caused any problems, I would agree with Esty that it was clutch smoke from slipping the clutch so much to start in 3rd gear. Sorry I'm not much help with the linkage issue.
  19. Same here, I would like to be kept in the loop as well. Gotta love Sears Point! Interested in the drive and the corral, possibly the dinner.
  20. When accelerating away from a stop, I will usually shift between 3-4K. When just cruising at a constant speed I'm usually in whatever gear puts me at 2.5K depending on the speed I'm driving, if that makes sense. It is fun to run it through the gears when getting on the freeway, though. I think the highest you can go in each gear from the factory is 29MPH for first, 54MPH for second, and 80 in 3rd, if I remember correctly. Personally I have a 5 speed in mine, which keeps the shift points the same but just with an added overdrive. I never use 5th unless I'm going above 55. There is nothing wrong with the way you have been driving it, so long as you're not dogging the motor and it does what you want it to. You probably get better mileage than me, if it's any consolation. Side note: In relation to your other thread, I always try to keep my revs above 2K. Below that it really bogs the motor down.
  21. We had a Chevelle this happened too as well, so I'm being careful. The sun hasn't been out all day, but it hasn't rained so I went out and dried the roof and underneath of the tarp off. Probably do that every day just in case.
  22. Thanks Tom, but I went down to Walmart today and picked up one for $10. It's pretty thin, but it is watertight and should hold me over in the meantime. However, tell him thanks for the offer!
  23. Technically it is the seal, but the windshield is cracked so when it is removed to change the seal it is going to break completely.
  24. I had assumed total would be closer to $60, never have bought a tarp before! Thanks for the insights, I now have a project for the day.
  25. I had thought of buying a tarp, but I only need the protection for a few days. I have nowhere to store a tarp, nor any use for one after this week though. And if I bought it, I probably wouldn't be able to pay for the windshield! My budget is incredibly tight for the next couple weeks. I would be able to pay a person back eventually, but I would have to buy the tarp upfront. That was why i was looking more for a place. Thanks for your thoughts though.
