  1. Thanks to all of you guys who gave your good advise. I will have to play around with the jetting i suppose. But i did measure the mileage on the highway, as i just made the trip up to Athens, GA and got about 160 miles out of a tank. (( robsanab, def post some results of your jetting changes. Part of my problem is, i wouldnt know what to change mine to in hopes of still keeping the good performance that the jets provide now, and achieving my ideal gas mileage. Thanks agian, Chris
  2. I rebuilt my carb to cd's jetting rx about a month ago, and am still getting horrible gas mileage (13 mpg). No fuel leaks from the tank ( I just had it boiled and relined). Timing is spot on, plugs were just replaced ect. Any ideas? Thanks, Chris
  3. Mr. Martinez, I read in a previous forum that you were the man to see for some center caps for 14 inch BBS wheels. I also heard that you had some late model rear window clasps? Is this info true good sir?? Chris 752dbl02@gmail.com[/img]
  4. well instead of replacing the H&R's that you have, you should prob consider upgrading to some billys or koni's. no point in having a stiffer spring rate without imporved dampening to accompany them...... SO... spend your money on new struts, and then report back.
  5. some pics would be cool. Do your seats sit really high though?
  6. what struts are you running??? I have H&Rs with adjustable konis, and they are pretty stiff....
  7. Mike, Do the seats still sit really high?? I have a set as well and was wondering the same thing, are they gonna be worth all the work.. Chris
  8. replace it!! ha i couldnt resist. is it a mechanical pump?
  9. It should just be those three bolts an the bottom of the strut, and then the lower strut bar, and it pops right on. Unless something changes between early and late models.. Chris
  10. Are numbers 1 and 2 the parts that i need to fix my rusty shock tower??? I was referred to maxamillion to get one, but this doesnt seem right.... Here are some pics of the rust on the car http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,311279/highlight,rust/
  11. thats criminal.... poor car... At least its not been driven in the snow..hopefully. t
  12. thats awsome!! i didnt know our cars did that. Do all the year models do it??
  13. very well said.. you have found yourself a nice little segway into breathing more life into your car. take it and run!! Chris
  14. theres your tranny Q. Interesting idea, but it looks to be very poorly done; i would have spent more time making it look halfway decent and not so much like a hack job. ...when things are neat and tidy, they tend to be easier to fix when broken....
  15. have you tried squirting WD-40 into the keyhole? that fixed my sticky locks
  16. A key from a 71 volkswagen will fit. I had an old hardware store copy mine.
  17. i just dont think its worth the money. But thats just me comparing how much im spending, to how much more umph the car will have. Also, if it were me, i would be doing the work, so that may also sway my opinion. My goal is an M20 swap, with M30 maf, 30lb injectors, and reworked brains (stock though) slightly upgraded head(stiffer valve springs new aftermarket stem seals ect). I have found a guy that will sell me a motor with all of that for 1500. but thats just my 02cents
  18. it popped through the front, not the back.....
  19. MONDAY NIGHT CHAT!!!! sorry im not as catchy as he is..... come join us.
  20. no no the subframe was bent, and replaced. The bolt for the lower strut rod was loose casuing it to drive the bushing out of the mount when i braked very abruptly in reverse. My perdicament was that i couldnt get the bushing back in, because i didnt have a press. But no worries now, as i have a new two piece poly on the way from IE. Chris
  21. Nope, the washer was on there; I remeber taking it off when i tried to push the busing back in. I think my fix will be to order a new two piece bushing from IE, and completely avoid having to press one in. Thanks for all the suggestions, Chris
  22. ohh there is. I replaced them on the old subframe. When it became bent after a slight argument with a curb, i couldn't get it out, so i left the rubber bushing in. The passenger side is a Poly. And it was a damn sudden stop, and i think in combination with the abruptness and a little bit of play because of loose bolts, it just popped itself through. ( I just sent an email to jeff ireland to see if i could buy just one bushing. On his site its listed as a lower strut rod bushing; this is the bushing in question is it not?
  23. yeah i figured. I replaced all the front end bushings not to long ago, and i thought they were two piece. But now that i remember i couldnt get the poly bushing out of that side because it was bent... i think. Well i guess that is what i will do.. would these bushings be the lower strut rod bushings in IE's front kit?? Chris T.
  24. pick a part or pull a part? If they are different, where is the pick a part??
  25. So the other night, i am backing the 2002 up the street, and my friend begins to walk behind me, causing me to slam on my brakes. I then hear a POP. Upon inspection i discover that #5 (Diagram below) has pushed itself out of the mount on the subframe. The usual cursing and swearing followed, and now i need to know what to use to press the damn thing back in. I have never heard of this happening before, but the result of it is aLOT of caster, and the wheel rubs against the front of the wheel well. HELLLPPP!!
