  1. Bump... Need to sell. Anybody interested?
  2. The vehicle does have a significant amount of rust, I will agree with you there. But it isn't as bad as it seems, from what I can tell. For instance, the underside of the rear strut tower is clean, and shows no signs of the rust having chewed completely through the metal. I do however, trust your judgement, Esty. This being said, I am open to offers on the car. I believe the car was originally Fijord blue, but the car has been resprayed by a previous owner. On the subject of my precious E30, I sold it to my brother under the condition that I might buy it back from him when I get my license back. However, he was kind enough to take my very clean e30 ('88, is, plastic bumper, original uncracked dash, immaculate interior, NLA 15x7.5 Ronal LS, koni shocks, H&R Springs, ect. I also had every record on the car since it was bought in SC; I even had part of the original window sticker.), into a curb at 40 mph. This resulted in my nice NLA wheels being destroyed, oil pan was shattered, oil pump was laying in the street, control arm and tie rod are bent to oblivion... and he still owes me money for the car...Needless to say it is a sore subject.
  3. I haven't posted on this forum for quite some time now, but was hoping you guys would give some honest feedback on my ole 02 for me. Due to some unfortunate moving violations, I have to sell my 02 along with my e30. It kills me to have to sell the car, but it is absolutely necessary. My hopes are that someone from the FAQ will buy the car, or someone who appreciates these cars as much as I know all of us here do. Since I have been out of the 02 scene for a little while, im not quite sure if I have the vehicle adiquately priced. Let me know what you guys think. 1975 BMW 2002 2,500 OBO 14 in E30 basketweaves with new tires 3.91 E21 LSD H&R springs with Koni strut/shocks. Polyurethane bushings throughout the front Front Susp. Strut mounts & bearings replaced ect. Brake system has been overhauled and all new OEM parts installed. (Calipers, Wheel Cylinders, Drums ect.) Rebuilt Weber 32/36 carb 6 months ago IE polyurethane motor mounts Car runs and drives great, but it does have some rust- The main spots being the left rear strut tower, left rear rocker panel, and passenger floorboard. 4. Another theory, heat soak occurs in the brakes naturally under hard braking, such as when coming to a complete stop at a light at the end of an off ramp. You stop at said light, and keep your foot on the pedal. The immense heat from the pads and rotors causes some pad material to actually transfer onto the rotors, resulting in a pulsation under braking afterwards as the pads come in contact with the sticky pad material that has transfered onto the rotors. Usually this one of the main causes of "warped" rotors as well. Fix: If it is in fact the rotors, have them resurfaced, and if there isn't enough material there, buy new ones. If its not the rotors, it could be the aforementioned loose tie rod end or ball joint. Either way, you need to spend some time underneath the car checking for play, and inspecting those rotors. HTH, Chris
  5. Priceless. My sister is in college up in Athens, GA, and I received a similar call from her last week telling me that she saw" the most gorgeous tii with turbo flares". I almost crapped my pants, hearing those words come from her mouth! The crazy part is, it turns out it was Zach (Speedwell1966) from the forum. He was as amazed as i was when she told him she loved his 2002! -Chris T.
  6. It can be done, but it is difficult. The shop that i work at has a HUGE parking lot which has a sole purpose for drifting. My 02 would keep a wide circle almost a full loop if i got a good head start. I could get it goin from a standstill if i really really dropped the clutch in first and kept it revved. It held up just fine, with my routinely flogging it. The only damage i can attribute to drifting was some wheel bearings wearing out, and the blowing of an open diff. So if your brave enough, it can be done, but a LSD helps, somewhat. With the LSD in my car, it was harder to spin the tires. But I agree with the others, if you want to learn how to drift, get an asian POS or somethin with POWER. It takes a good amount to be able to hold a good drift. I now have an e30 325is that will hold its own but it still lacks the power to make it easy. We still need to get a 2002 meet together for GA!! But if your ever interested in making the trip down here your welcome to come and use the parking lot. All of the guys at the shop are always good for some pointers as well. BTW: post up some pics of the alpinas, I haven't seem em yet!! Chris
  7. hmmm possibly. It wont be in the '02 though, it has finally come off the road. Bittersweet situation :<(. But I have replaced it with an '88 325is!! (Amazingly it's a painted bumper car too!) We will see...
  8. I said that i know that the distributor isn't original. The 74-76 models came with vaccum advance distributors, and mine is a mech adv. What i ment by not knowing what type of distributor was that i dont know what it came off of, tii dist, or one of another aftermarket variety. CD's jetting RX works great, and has for the past 4 months since i rebuilt the carb, including resetting the float gap. The car has run like a top ever since. The cap and rotor are fairly new, i replaced them about 8 months ago, and there is no serious wear on the contacts on the inside of the cap, so that is ruled out. Play in the retaining plate that holds the point doesn't sound likely, as it will run great one min and stumble the next, and it only happens every once in a while, and the same RPM. Loosness in that plate would cause it to run poorley more often. I may have not mentioned it before, but after it did this to me yesterday, i motored on a little bit down the road, punched it agian, and it ran fine. The radiator being clogged or over worked wouldn't have any correlation with ignition issues, misgapped plugs wouldnt do this intermintently, and really and truely dont have that large of an impact. Like i said, i recently personally rebuilt the carb, so i know that the linkage is fine. Choke wise, its a water choke, so there isnt to much linkage there to fiddle with. Does it run hot at high speeds, yeah at 90mph it will kinda creep up on the temp gauge, but that is expected with the car almost topped out. My main concern was wether the dist was advancing the timing properly throughout the powerband. The mechanic that works at the shop that i work at pointed me in this direction, and i was just wondering if anyone had ever experienced this happening randomly on an otherwise great running car.
  9. ..after its been driven normally (which in my case, includes some aggressive driving), parked, and then driven a short while later, it falls on its face at about 5k RPM. It almost seemse as if its running out of fuel.. I did ask one of the old school mechanics that I work with about it, and he said that it may be that the dist. isn't advancing the timing correctly all the time. Anyone ever heard of that happening? I have no idea what dizzy is on the car, as it is a '75 and it has a mech. adv dizzy, and to my knowledge, 74-76 had vaccum adv distributors. Correct me if I'm wrong here. But a dist. going slowly bad would explain why the car sometimes seems to have a more defined powerband, and sometimes it seems a tad lackluster, but hell, the weather can do that too. Car history wise, I just rebuilt the carb per CD's jetting RX, it has a brand new fuel pump and filter as well. Any ideas?? TIA Chris
  10. Yep, you can get the real stuff!!!! I'm just giving you shit Zack. All of us GA 02'ers, and surrounding 02ers, need to get together for a Dyno Day over at the shop that i work at!! Lemme know if you have numbers, or other ways to contact people, cause i only have your and Harrison's number. Chris
  11. Has anyone ever used the universal seat belt kit from Bimmerpartswholsale.com?? It says some modification may be needed...If someone has used these, what mods did you have to do?? Only $100.00 for a set!! Chris
  12. Heed his warning. I broke one of them, and now i have a horrid rattle in the gauges at certain RPM's. :(l
  13. Yeah well you don't count Harrison. Your car hasn't been on the road in six years!!
  14. Welcome to owning an old tired 2002! Sorry i couldnt resist. Check your exhaust manifold at the connector, could be the source. Also, you may have a bad trunk seal.

  18. "Question 1: should the odometer change while doing this test?" Yes, how else do you think the odometer works, induction? Solar power? Batteries? Damn no need to be an asshole......He was simply asking a question.....
  19. damn man that sucks. When do i get to see Phoenix????? PS.- you still have those trannys that you dont want? Chris T.
  20. I need someone to go and take a look at an E30 for me. Please please please if anybody would be able to go down and look at this car (its in Murfeesboro) and tell me if its worth its stones. My problem is that i wont be able to personally go look at the car until next weekend, and I'm afraid that the car will already be sold by that time. Shoot me an Email, 752dbl02@gmail.com Thanks, Chris
  21. Zac, A car cover really and truly isn't that great for your car unless you put it on right after you wash it, and then dont put it back on unless you wash the car, or at least hit it with a cali duster. The cover rubbing against the dirty paint will put scratches in it.... Maybe I'm wrong, but thats just what i have heard.. How does the car run??? Chris
  22. I had an encounter with a deer last night, and narrowly avoided some major damage!! The only thing that was broken was my passenger side sidemarker/ turn signal. I NEED A NEW ONE PLEASEEEEE!!!! anybody?? Thanks, Chris Email= 752dbl02@gmail.com
