  1. You're probably right, Scott. Since I already purchased the materials, we'll see where it goes. The caps in your post might require a bit of retooling to work.
  2. I was hoping to do our '02 community a service, as I know people are always looking for these. Given that they are likely already available from Germany and perhaps Roger, I'll have to rethink whether this is something to pursue. Thanks for the info.
  3. When I get through a backlog of other things, I will be reproducing the washer bottle caps. I have already acquired materials that should replicate the qualities of the original, including the white translucence. I'll post the results on the forum as soon as I'm able to get caught up. I expect the price to be no more than $10. If that seems high, please consider the time and materials that go into bringing even something as small as this into production. Thanks for the plug, Scott.
  4. I have to agree with what's been said about the new brackets. I had a pair of the older design. Very nicely made, but a little too much jiggle for me. The new ones are a much thicker guage and transmit no noticable vibration. Hey Pierre, being your first 2.0 customer, do I qualify for the discount, too? :>)

    SPEED TRAPS

I've had my detector for a couple of years now, as I have to drive through a small town noted for its aggressive speed enforcement. The "instant on" can be a killer, as you don't know until it's too late. I'm careful to maintain the posted limit unless there's at least one vehicle in front of me, even if it's several hundred yards. That way, my detector will pick up the short bursts targeted at the lead vehicle. This happened to me just last night. The car in front of me was going the same speed I was, maybe 5 mph over. A cruiser coming the opposite way blipped my detector for about a half second. Sure enough, he turned on us and nabbed the guy who was in front of me.
  6. Julio, email me regarding the rear fog light. It just came back marked insufficient address. Thanks.
  7. I should mention, too, that the series of pictures of that car are what inspired me to replicate the holder.
  8. So far, 15 other 02ers are enjoying the old school goodness.
  9. Scott, you need to name your car. She can't continue to be the "other woman" in your life - which has me wondering - has your wife been to that many cool places since 2005?
  10. Sorry to see this happen. I think the strength of this board lies with the everyday enthusiasts such as yourself. We are each able to contribute something, whether it be a great question that others are afraid to ask (for reasons you have stated), to provide a helpful piece of advice or perhaps a link to an exciting new product related to the hobby. I can't say that I blame you, but hope to see you back on board when you feel the time is right. Best regards!
  11. I think you may benefit from some basic research on what the term "32/36" means. Then come back and relist your carb. Esty's wonderfully sardonic wit was apparently lost on you. No offense intended!
  12. I got mine at Auto Zone. They had a variety of sizes including the 22mm I needed. Much cheaper than most BMW specific listing online.
  13. Not exactly a maintenance failure, but when I was taking an auto body night class last year I was blasting some wheels, never having used a media blaster before. I had the safety glasses, hood and gloves on but when I pulled the trigger it looked like nothing was coming out of the gun. So...much like touching a wet paint sign to see if it's really wet, I took a glove off and put my hand in front of the gun. The pain was so intense I left the shop for about 15 minutes until I could even tolerate the residual pain. When I came back in the shop, everybody asked where I went. I mumbled some excuse and tried to carry on like nothing had happened. OK - now who's next?
  14. A common moisture trap provides a low spot for water to collect but it's designed to collect droplets of water not water vapor so if the air is hot it will carry moisture through and then the water vapor will condense in the hose. The trick is to cool the air before it gets to the moisture trap because if it cools after the trap, more moisture will condense out. In a body shop they will usually use refrigerated air dryers to cool the air and remove the moisture. It is important to have the moisture trap mounted at the end of the line as far from the compressor and as close to the tool as possible.
  15. Just hit my email button and I'll fix you up. Thanks.
  16. Wonder if that's a retired police cruiser. That might explain this guy's over the top devotion to it. Perhaps he did some back seat bonding at one time?
  17. Get ready for a safer spring drive with this new, never installed Hella rear fog lamp - Model 100 Rear Fog Lamp - HL81102. Comes in original box in perfect, brand new condition. $42 + shipping
  18. Probably about 6 of us are old enough to remember this:
  19. I thought I saw a thread on this a few weeks back, but can't seem to find it now. I've also been looking for the same thing for my new Aardvark seats. I'll let you know if I have any luck stateside.
