  1. No link, but here is mine. "period correct" Blaupunkt Nurnberg monaural wired for MP3 or iPod.
  2. I feel bad.....OK, you can have all your money back and still keep the car. (For the uninformed, Scott got a really, really good deal on the car)
  3. At least unplug the wipers at the firewall until you figure it out. My touring did that, so I would just turn them on and off that way until miraculously they started working again on their own .
  4. Here are some pictures of the Good Old Days with the 76 Inka. Right up to the arrival of the Touring, accused of "alienation of affections" soon afterward. The 76, Originally my wife's (nickname 2E), bought new to replace the Porsche 914 upon the arrival of our first son. Eventually I got it for it's second wind. More children, when we moved up to station wagons and mini vans. When 1st son attained driving age, third life began, he got it, put his personal touches on it and drove it through high school and after he moved out. He abandoned it when he bought his first truck. I saved it from the field it sat in for a year or so in 2002. Back home, changed back to original all of son's personal touches, revived it and it started its fourth life driving up and down the California coast going to various BMW shows. FestWest San Luis Obispo, BayArea02 in Palo Alto, Bimmerfest in Santa Barbara, Drives up Hwy 33 and other backroads in California. Right up to the arrival of the Touring. Now after 6 years of being ignored, covered in the driveway, the 76 is in good hands getting ready for its next life bringing driving joy to someone else. Like the rings in an old tree, every dent, nick, scratch represents some event in the long fruitful life of the 1976 BMW 2002.
  5. It's been in SB since 1976, bought it new locally. Off the street since I got the touring six years ago. In good hands now.
  6. My wife is happy to get part of the driveway back, I am very glad Scott adopted it.
  7. Gonna be around for the sat am Santa Barbara breakfast, then caravan to Woodley Park?
  8. Makes it go faster. They just fall down every time the car hits the ground. They got tired of pushing them back up.
  9. We are in Santa Barbara (40 minutes from Solvang). Happy to give you family ideas (with or without "car stuff") for our area. Mission, Harbor, kayaking, Segwaying, Amphibious vehicle tours. You could spend your whole time between San Francisco and San Diego and never run out of things to do. Keep in touch, all advice is free. Central California Coast is one of the most beautiful areas around. Then there is Yosemite and Sequoia parks in Central California, and you haven't even touched the beauty in the rest of the US. What time of the year were you planning to come?
  10. Now I am going to have to go out and look at the back seat to see if I have one. My back seats spend most of their life folded down.
  11. I wondered that too, I am betting on a replacement sport muffler, MFG in 9/76. Leistritz made sport mufflers in Germany.
  12. I guess we figured out what that noise was in the rear...looks pretty good, better than most, easy fixes. From experience, i suggest you take a good look at the front ball joints. Otherwise you might get to share my experience. Fortunately only going 10 mph when the left front ball joint separated. Probably would have turned into a flaming orange ball at any faster rate.
  13. Yeah, just what Bill said...should be able to modify a standard weatherstrip.
  14. Isn´t it polished aluminium? don't know what it is, just know what it looks like. I think it is chrome. A little paint remover and yours should look like these. Just don't get any remover on the car.
  15. I was hoping someone with a little more mechanical expertise would chime in on your original question about the fuel pump. From your pics, it appears that your car doesn't have the mechanical fuel pump, and the ticking behind the rear passenger seat could be an electric fuel pump. They usually "tick" rapidly when turned on and slow down when pressure is built up. See if there if fuel coming into the clear fuel filter in the gas line just before the carburetor. Your instincts are right, your problem is most likely related to fuel delivery. Good luck, I am sure more advice will follow. This is a pretty knowledgeable crowd.
  16. 1. The whole story is posted above. 2. Chicken is tasty. One of the key rules on cooking chicken on the Weber: Cook until chicken is just a little darker than an INKA touring. Yum, looks really good.
  17. I agree with Jason. Make it mechanically sound, and DRIVE it as much as possible. Welcome to the world of Orange Tourings. As Bill, Sam, Paul, and the many other Touring owners on this board can attest, they are some of the most friendly approachable cars made. Can't get from the parking lot into the grocery store without someone, old or young, wanting to talk about your "cute orange car". Don't worry about "showing" it. Gather with other Vintage BMW owners (the nicest people in the world) and enjoy the time together. Drive the car every chance you get and you will discover why your dad loved the car so much. (It's pretty cool that "fate" kept the car away from you until you would really appreciate it) A father really wants his children to share his passions, it is an eternal connection no one can take away. Since my sons aren't that interested, I am working on my grandaughter, who just loves the touring. Congratulations and welcome. Enjoy the Touring, I am sure it is what you dad wanted.
  18. Congrats, John. Looks really nice, and enjoyed the travelogue of the trip home. I might have to start looking for something similar. I can't seem to get granddaughter Emily out of the 02. She just loves it.
  19. Sorry I missed the drive and missed seeing all of you. Great to see a pic of Norm with his new wheels. Has he souped up that scooter yet. IMG_1568 by 2RedRagtops, on Flickr Some of us are now working on our grandaughters. Cars & Cocoa Sunday AM
  20. Great thread. Gives the members a lot more dimension. Deserves to be on the main page. Here is my little "tooth factory" (dental laboratory). '02 pics on the left, trophy for 02 at Bimmerfest on the left. 1802 Touring delivery vehicle (not in Pic). OK, if I turn around you can see the Touring as a screensaver..
  21. Hang out at the Nail Polish counter at the local drug store. There must be something close in all the choices available today. Just tell them it is for your girlfriend/wife. I even found something close to Inka, that I used on my 76 beater.
