Pike's new Inka Heart transplant picture thread!

So it's been a while since any updates. Since the engine swap, I've installed an Alpine amp under the rear seat that I had lying around and after blowing the speakers, bought some Alpine speakers to complete the audio upgrade (no, I didn't cut the holes in the door cards...)

I fully planned on having Curtis install my 5-speed (and I still do) but the car was running like crap even after the engine swap. I knew what the culprit was, but I was too lazy to work on it. The problem is crap in the tank. I had gone through 2-3 fuel filters hoping the thing would clear up, but it didn't. So I drained the tank hoping THAT would take all the crap out. It didn't. So I called a RENU guy in Apopka and he wanted $400. I did a little research and decided to go the POR-15 route. Here are a couple of crappy pictures of what was in the tank. I will be getting the POR kit next week (on order) and then I'll treat the tank.

So like a dumbass, I didn't take pictures of the recently POR-15'd tank. However, it came out like a brand new tank. The only clue that it was done is the filler neck sticking up. (Notice the missing bolt on the neck? It was the only way I could get the gas tank cap horizontal when closed. Maybe I missed something?)

I replaced the old (and by old, I mean I had only put MAYBE 50 miles on) fuel filter

With a brand new one

I also put the sync-link on the Weber

and the thing goes like a raped ape! Who'd have thought that clean gas and a carb dumping tons of that clean gas would make such a difference! Granted, I've only driven it about 5 miles, but if those 5 miles are an indication of what's to come.....it should be awesome!!

So I received my new belts (Thanks Al) and carpet (thanks Esty). I've been putting off tearing into my new project, but I decided to tonight. Hopefully this will help get rid of that "36 year old car smell". Here are some pictures of the first hour or so....

A good picture of one of Al's belts and Esty's carpet. THey both made the interior 100 times better. Great investments!!
