Come on Tom, can't you tell it's my heart speaking! Just kidding!

Never had the cars on scales, but this is what I come up with through Autobook and original straight 2000 and Tilux sales paperwork.

All weight is given as unladen.

1602= 2062 lbs.

2002= 2271 lbs. ( early bumpers)

2000 Tilux = 2491 lbs.

Straight 2000 =2535 lbs.

67 1600 6-volt.

71 Straight 2000 , last NK I ever drove, her right hand shock tower totally fell apart on April 1st 1990! This is no joke!

82 320I

87 535IS, my beloved ''Giesella" that I've had for 16.5+ years.

Jon,

I didn't do any winter driving with any of my 4 door NK's but with some of my 2002's I did and also a couple 320i's., no real issues getting stuck in snow, carburettor icing, etc..just prep them for winter driving season as best as I could.

Still on the fence, I have always thought the 1800 Ti and TiSA weighed around 2350.... Here's the Sports Car Graphic road test of the 1800TISA and it shows 2320lbs. :)

scanned in the May '67 Road and Track 1600-2/2000 TiLux article as well... Guess that at the time the TiLux did weigh about 500lbs more than the 1600-2.

'67 1600-2 = 2050lbs

'67 2000 TiLux = 2560lbs

That still doesn't have the portly '76 2002 weight... we'll have to ask the "others" for that road test article...

More on the issue of weight (guess this discussion should have been a new thread) - along with my new car came a period French BMW sales brochure. States the 1600 weighs 1000kgs dry and 1050 wet (2205/2315lbs).

I find all of these figures amazing as the NK's are so much more solid than an 02. The bonnet and boot lids weigh a ton alone. Plus we all know how heavy BMW doors are and these have an extra two.
