My tii had developed a way of firing on only 3 cylinders upon cold start for about the last week. I figured it was tune-up time, but it's only been 6000 miles since the whole thing was last done. Or worse, the injection system is pretty far along without having been rebuilt....

Just for grins, I popped the hood and tugged on the wires. Number 1 plug wire pulled off the spark plug quite easily. I checked the terminal, looked okay. Put it back on, continued tugging but found nothing else. Now she's been running real nice at startup for several days.

Sometimes you get lucky.

Last week I had some missing going on.

Couldn't track that thing down for nothing.

Turns out it was that little horseshoe clip inside the hard plastic boot that snaps on to the plug was missing.

The little things are what keeps us determined.....

Mine was starting really hard a few months back.

Finally pulled the air cleaner to find that the little clip had

fallen out of the choke- a small bit of safety wire later,

and I was back in business.

Amazing how long we'll put up with a real problem in fear

of an expensive, involved fix only to discover that the

solution was free and took 3 minutes...
