Mobile Tradition door trim panels

Has anyone ordered brown/black interior door trim panels for a late roundie from MT and gotten the right color?

I ordered a pair in "goldbraun" (#51 41 1 816 861 & 862) from the dealer for a really good price and when they came in they looked great but... they were the "early" brown for up to '71. (I posted before about the color difference: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,308584/highlight,saddle+brown/)

I think maybe it's not a shipping mistake this time, but I want to see if it's actually possible to get the panels for a '73.

Any help appreciated.

Hello, I have tried various sources. If someone has a set let me know! Myself for one may have to embark on my own project to fabricate my own interpretation of the oem style interior door/quarter panels latest roundie saddle (properly colored) in leather, and vinyl. MT catalogued the (right light saddle part number) and used the wrong material, and they wont change what they did because it costs megaeuros to change, or create a part numbers. It may not hurt to complain to MT like I did when I experienced the same situation. If something changes I would like to know. For now I will have to succumb to the existing color setup, and then deal with the (project) later. I feel your pain. I will broadcast if I get news fr MT. Q`s msalaniuk At yaHoo dot com,

Thanks bahnstormer. So it's not just me - right part #, wrong material... I'm going to make an inquiry too. Rumor has it that they at least log requests for NLA parts and use that to justify new production.

Best,

Steve

Reviving an old thread. Does anyone know if the goldbraun/schwarz door panels offered by mobile traditions are the orangish saddle color?? Or is it still the incorrect material mapped to the correct part number? I'm referring to part number 51411816861 on the mobile traditions website.

If not, any idea where I can source new saddle/black door panels?

Thanks

Sorry to respond late!!!

Some butt head @ BMW!!!!!! Formerly MT now BMW Classic interpreted the color wrong and numbered the panels for the caramel ones and probably did not care to spend the logistical money to correct it! Very expensive to do that in the industry.

The Gold braun color is the tobacco schwartz given to the caramel part number.

It sure would be nice for them just to "quietly" shuffle/change the colors around and I wont frickin complain!!!That would be cheaper.....I would love to head this project if I were at BMW!!!!I would make sure all the interior materiels were spot on door pulls, ash trays, etc and av ai la ble, and not NLA!!!!I am pursuing further still to come up with solutions. I do prefer the caramel stuff!!!

If you find out anything please let me in on it!! Likewise I will do the same.

Good day.

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
