gas saving tips

My gas mileage went from 16.5 up to 20.5 on a 2.3L MM engine with PH44's Mikuni side drafts

1 remove front bumper

2 remove back seats and empty the trunk

3 advance timing 2 degrees

4 step down your main jet 2 sizes

5 replace your distributor with an old single side vacuum advance unit circa 1969

6 put in a hotter thermostat

7 get a MSD ignition unit and increase plug gap to .04

8 get electronic points

9 lean out your idle using the best idle speed method

I couldn't do the old style distributor due to the side drafts and I stopped using the hotter thermostat when I got the new engine but both of those changes do help. To go from 16.5 to 20.5 i did #3,4,9. The other changes I did to improve acceleration but they also improve gas milage.

And oh yeh clean the bugs off your windshield and put 34psi in your tires and don't use your brakes and drive at a steady 80mph!

Have fun

I have done all of these

and go Two Wheeled BMW instead of riding in a 4-wheeled cage

Get 5 0 MPG all day long and eat some bugs along the way.
