mystery wire harness question

Recommended Posts

What is this plug for? Pic is under left rear seat along the rocker; there's one on each side each w/ two conductors, both black and one goes to ground.

The other wire isn't evidently connected to any factory lights or switches, but I haven't removed the console and dash panels yet to try and trace it.

Out of Haynes, Chilton, McCartney, etc., I've found the glovebox manual to have the best diagram, but no luck here... Any ideas?

inches away? If so, they're probably part of the "fasten seat belts" circuitry that goes with the light atop the dash.

I discovered that the seat belt warning light wiring harness isn't in the factory shop manual after one of the seat sensors shorted out and kept blowing fuse # 11 on my '73. I'll bet a PO of your car disconnected the $#@%** thing after the same thing happened to him.

Just a guess, though...

One of those is probably it -- fasten seatbelt or interlock. (Darn, I was hoping for half of a factory rear fog harness.)

The car was a "mid-engine" rolling shell with no interior, so I don't know if the original inertia reels were wired. I did notice the original shift platform (old style linkage) had a contact switch for one of those circuits. Assumed the seatbelt warning on a '73 was a simple circuit in the receiving end of the belt, but I think there are some archive articles I can read on that.

Thanks,

Steve
