Don't joke. I thought about this given the probable inefficiency of the small 'cigar box' filters. I thought it might be easier than finding a decent stock filter and then modifying for the Weber. You can't go 'up' so you may as well go 'out'

Silas, I looked at some photos of aftermarket intake manifolds and it looks like they might not be receptive to drilling/tapping for the stock air cleaner mount; so I went ahead and made one that uses two of the carburetor mounting studs, like I tried to describe earlier in this thread.

I have it pretty close, but it will take a little final fitting under the hood.

I kept the shape simple on this one, to see if it works;

but if I make another, I will do it more like the paper pattern.

 

This probably belongs in the 'stock filter' thread, but since this one inspired it, I figured I'd share it here (as well).

I don't have either side mount unfortunately. I have the old K&N adapter that many on here have. Basically a box with an oval throat on top. It covers 15% of the throats when looking down. I can provide a picture later tonight.

There are several of that style adapter that I am aware of.  The one I am most fond of is NLA and benefits from a little modification, which the current style does not need done to it.  I'd love to start sand casting aluminum adapters.  I need more spare time!  (and a CNC cutter-outer )

To use a bracket like this, you would need to use a paper thin gasket under the carb.

The one I have there is thicker and cinching down the bracket could distort the base of the carb.  So many little things to worry about... but it seems to fit pretty well.
