door seal Q

where it (allegedly) seals to the rubber moulding on the car body. As Blunt pointed out, your window may be out of adjustment, as may your door (see if the trim piece on the door stands proud of the adjacent trim piece on the body). The catch plate on the door frame can be adjusted in and out (and up and down) to compensate for latch wear.

If your seal is still pliable and just flattened out, you can help it seal a little better by taking some small diameter black rubber vacuum hose and gluing it underneath the seal's lip to make the lip protrude a little further. But if the seal is all hard and cracked (and pieces falling out), it's time for a new seal.

Too bad no one makes that one section of door seal as a separate part; that's the only part that really goes bad.

cheers

Can't you just splice in a new chunk from some other car? I think someone a few months back mentioned using VW Bug seals on the whole door for $8 but I dont think he followed up too much on the process.
