Have any of you come across this cam. I have one, and it requires lash caps. Lash caps on a 273 ? Along with the "273" the script "RC or So Cal Cams" is also etched into the cam. The engine ran fine with it. Its obviously a regrind, but I've never heard of this cam before.

I'm rebuilding a motor and I'm debating using either this cam or a stock one.

The US standard is to measure duration at .050" of lift-

for some very good reasons.

BMW, Schrick, and many of the European companies measure TOTAL duration

at zero lash- so they include the acceleration and decel. ramps of the cam.

Which don't make much power for you.

So your '273' cam actually may have a '316' or '305' total duration.

And probably about 8mm of valve lift- it's hard to get much more than that

on a regrind.
