Nut torque question

Recommended Posts

I'd interpret that to mean at least 289, but no more than 340.

Here's an old thread I just dug up.

Here's what f1reverb said in that thread.

"Now some of the bolt/nut torque figures are +/- tolerance, the ones with a + only indicate to me that there is no tolerance on the minus side at all, but there is on the plus side. "

When they say torque the rear hub nut to 289+51 do they mean torque to 289 then torque again to 340?

They mean torque to 289 and see if the cotter pin holes line up, if you can get a pin inserted you are good to go. If not. apply additional torque not to exceed 340 to get things lined up pin wise😉
