what do the seats look like under the sheep

esty,

Based solely on the photo shown of a portion of the driver’s seat cushion (first photo below), I’d guess that the passenger seat might have its original molded-vinyl center section, with a crack (cracks?) on the heat seam, as is common and predictable. This guess must be based solely on the driver’s seat, however, which has a replaced molded-vinyl center section.

The vinyl currently on the driver’s seat is similar, but not identical to the original heat seamed vinyl for pre-December 1971 (an example of which is shown in the second photo). The driver’s seat does not have an original seat’s consistent pleat widths — compare the blue and green lines I’ve added to the first photo below — and I suspect the driver’s seat does not have an original seat’s 12 pleats.

Since the driver’s seat almost always cracks before the passenger’s seat, I’d surmise that the driver’s seat center section was replaced while the crack in the passenger’s suggests original molded vinyl. The smooth vinyl on the driver’s seat bolster face might well be original.

That’s my report based on precious little evidence!

Best regards,

Steve
